Chapter 4: I DO
the audience began to laugh
"groom am repeating all i said.will---"but the groom cut him short
"i do . i love my bride. till death do us apart i will never leave her"said the groom
"ok----and what will happen if you cheat?"asked the official
"i will become poor and work for others as a labourer"said the groom.
there was silence for 3 minutes and then great applause
"yes the groom is a real man.now we shall test the bride"said the official
the groom was taken to a corner to sit on a couch
wendy drank the soup her bridegroom drank. in no time she was less aware of her surroundings.
"wendy if your husband to be becomes so poor that you can't afford a house what will you do?"
"i love him. for better r for worse. i'll pamper him like a baby."
"what if he loses his sight,has a terrible illness,becomes ugly?"asked the official once again
"i will fulfill my vow. for better or for worse. i will stay beside him. only death do us apart"replied the bride
"and also what if you find a man cuter than him richer than him and makes you feel more secure than him. will you ditch him?"
"i wendy hills swear to remain by him for better or for worse . if i ever break this vow i will become barren and ugly."
there was silence for 3 minutes before applause
"these two children are sincere towards each other. never to be separated till death do them apart.they are worthy to be pronounced husband and wife."pronounced the official happily.
at this the audience applauded for 7 minutes . during this time the couple regained their senses and called out to each other.
