Chapter 140: Wishes lost and found

One enchanted acorn in exchange for an Object of Remembrance. One wish for a common pearl. It was a simple deal with no strings attached, or so Xander thought. 

The little girl jumped onto the closest aerial root cluster and slithered down, holding the tangled ropes with her right hand. In her left hand, she held the gray acorn from before, but it looked a lot smaller this time. It was as if the acorn had shrunk from within.

"Not all come back for wish. You good person," the girl said, holding her hand out like a little monkey.

Xander grabbed the acorn with one hand and gave her the pearl with the other. 

The girl's eyes twinkled as she held the pearl within her grasp. A playful smile spread across her face as she looked at the shiny orb with curious eyes.
