Chapter 100: The Shadow of Evil

The abrupt change in Xander's behavior did not go unnoticed by the villagers. People around him had already started whispering among themselves while exchanging worried glances. However, not many had the courage to approach the man who had just slain the three-headed fiend.

Eventually, the elder took it upon himself to get to the bottom of the matter. Balancing himself on his crooked cane, he approached the Dreamwalkers.

"Should we be worried about something?" the old man asked, eyeing Xander.

"Nothing at all," Xander replied plainly, his eyes never leaving the child in his arms. "I'm here to solve your problems."

Despite the assurance from Xander, the elder could not find comfort in his words. A man of his age had lived through many tragedies and experienced several betrayals. And even though he had spent the greater part of his life in a remote village, his years had taught him valuable lessons.
