I mean I met Kara when I was at the lowest point of my life, running away from the woman I love, terrified of letting anyone in because I lost your mother" 

Jason rubbed his forehead to take away some of the tension he felt or maybe it was to distract himself from the fact that he was talking to his nine year old in a manner one would talk to an adult.

"EJ, I met your sister and I swear to God, it must have been love at first sight but even though it was, I didn't realize it for almost a year. Just like I didn't realize that I was in love with McKenna for two years too"

Jason smiled awkwardly at her. Here he was explaining his complicated life to his child and he was worried if she would even make sense of what he was saying.
