German looked at Cael in shock. "Living together with humans? But how can this even be possible? We have been at war since our creation! The only peace we have achieved was because of our retreat to the Courts."

Cael rubbed the bridge of his nose in thought. "All that's necessary for the survival of vampires is blood, which can be gathered from monsters. How much of it a vampire needs just to survive?"

"Without doing any magic? Maybe a liter of a normal human blood per week would suffice," Irmilla shrugged. "But we use magic every day—for cleaning, cooking, farming… Just like humans. That without training to use more serious magic. With that, a liter of human blood isn't enough anymore. Necessary amounts can easily fly into the sky."

"Still, there aren't that many vampires—and you have been surviving mainly on hunting monsters for a long time already, haven't you?"
