Chapter 115: Deep blue, part 7

The suit of blood armor flowed over Cael like a liquid, shining, glossy carapace. Every bit of him was covered in its ominous plates, leaving only the eyes open.

But this spell—Demon Shell was its name—wasn't made for protection alone. Cael straightened and outstretched his hand. Blood flowed from his armor, lengthening his folded fingers into an elbow-long blade.

The amorphousness of it was deceptive. It was stronger than steel.

Even that wasn't all. The most important was how Cael felt.

He had to let go of his Hero's Valor spell, because he didn't have the concentration to keep both it and Demon Shell up at once. Despite that, there was more sheer power within his body now than before. The blood armor connected to him, supporting his every movement, making him feel both weightless and more impactful at once.
