Chapter 46: Spicy Boiled Fish

"Xu Anyi, what are you doing here?!"

Xu Anyi looked at Xia Yiwei and then her eyes moved over to the closed door behind her. She did not know if she should be surprised to see Xia Yiwei here, as she was part of the upper class now, and it wasn't unusual to see upper class or business people in this restaurant.

"To eat. What else would I be here for?" Xu Anyi replied with a mocking smile as if she was talking to an idiot.

"You-" Xia Yiwei froze as she looked at the closed door behind her and then quickly walked away from it, pulling Xu Anyi down the hallway away from the room.

"Ch! I almost thought you were here to work again. I haven't seen you at Yihua in a while, did you get fired?" Xia Yiwei crossed her arms together proudly, looking at her with superiority.

Xu Anyi didn't even want to bother to talk to her as she turned her head around, continuing to look for the restroom. Seeing that she was getting ignored, Xia Yiwei did not get angry as she continued to stare at Xu Anyi, and said a little louder, "You want to know why I am here?"

"No."

Xia Yiwei's expression stiffened slightly but she quickly rolled her eyes and continued, not caring about Xu Anyi's response, "It's my birthday soon. Brother Yuzhe is helping me plan my birthday party."

She lifted her chin up proudly, looking carefully at Xu Anyi's expression, wanting to see her upset or jealous. However, she saw none of that as Xu Anyi completely ignored her and pulled over a waitress who walked by them.

"Excuse me, do you know where the restroom is?"

The waitress pointed down the hallway, "Turn left and it will be there."

"Thank you," Xu Anyi nodded as she walked away, completely ignoring Xia Yiwei's presence as she walked over down the hallway and turned the corner, entering the restroom.

Xia Yiwei did not follow her or say anything else, as she had gotten her point across, and someone came out from her room, calling her to go back in.

"Coming," she replied with a sweet smile as she looked down the hallway where Xu Anyi disappeared once more with a frown. This restaurant was very expensive. . . How was she able to be here?

Xia Yiwei furrowed her eyebrows together as she walked back into her room and sat back down in her seat.

Next to her, Lu Yuzhe looked over and grabbed onto her hand, "What's wrong?"

She immediately broke into a smile and shook her head, "Nothing."

Xu Anyi went to the restroom and washed her hands and then returned back to the private room right as the waiter left.

"I ordered already. If you want anything else, we can always add it," Si Mu said to her as she sat back down.

Xu Anyi nodded and took a sip of the warm tea on the table, looking around the large room. The room was definitely too large to just place one small table for two in it, and it looked slightly awkward with just the two of them sitting in the middle of the enormous space.

After a few minutes, the food was quickly served and Si Mu had ordered a lot that it almost didn't fit on the table. Xu Anyi looked at the array of food and picked up her fork with wide eyes, "You ordered so much! Can we finish all of it?"

Si Mu smiled, "It's okay. If we can't finish, we can always take it back home."

Xu Anyi nodded and her eyes fell to the dish right in front of her, a large bowl of spicy boiled fish, "How did you know I love spicy boiled fish?"

She moved the red pepper flakes to the side and picked out a large slice of fish. Her mother came from the south, where spicy food was very popular, so she was good at eating spice as well.

Not to her surprise, the fish was very soft and juicy, and the spiciness was the perfect amount to handle. Si Mu picked up his chopsticks but continued to watch her eat with a content expression on his face.

As his husband, of course he knew what she liked to eat.

Seeing that he wasn't eating, Xu Anyi looked up and thought: Why wasn't he eating? Did. . . he want to eat the fish too?

Although the table was small, the bowl was still quite far from him, and Xu Anyi took the ladle in the bowl and scooped out another large piece of fish, leaning forward to dump it onto his plate, "You should try it too! It's really good!"

Si Mu looked down at the fish on his plate and raised an eyebrow, but he didn't move his chopsticks. He seemed to be contemplating something, and Xu Anyi watched him nervously, "Do you not like fish?"

Si Mu thought about it for a few seconds and replied, "I'm not sure, I've never had it before."

Xu Anyi's eyes widened in disbelief. What?!

"I'm allergic to fish."

". . ." Xu Anyi felt as if she had been struck by lightning as she stared at him in shock for a few seconds and then jumped up, fumbling around with her chopsticks as she quickly took the piece of fish off of his plate and placed it onto her own.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know," she said in embarrassment.

Si Mu frowned slightly, and he seemed to regret the decision he had made from the contemplation as he shook his head, "No, it's not your fault. I never told you so of course you wouldn't know."

Xu Anyi still felt bad as she watched him eat broccoli from the dish in front of him, and she silently bent her head down to eat the large pile of fish on her plate.

He never told her, so of course she wouldn't know. . . That was true, but they were married. He seemed to know everything about her, yet she knew so little about him. She didn't even know what foods he was allergic to.

Even if their marriage was only a fake agreement, she still felt embarrassed at her ignorance.

There was a moment of silence and then she looked up and asked, "Is there anything else you are allergic to?"

Si Mu was already looking at her and their eyes met as he shook his head.

"Then what foods do you like to eat. . . Or don't like to eat?" She asked, looking at him with curiosity.

Si Mu thought about it and couldn't think of anything for a long time, before he finally answered, "I'm not picky with food. I can eat anything. But I can't really eat spicy food."

Xu Anyi's hand holding the chopsticks froze in midair as she smiled awkwardly.

He couldn't eat fish or spicy food.

Spicy boiled fish. . .

Xu Anyi wanted to dig a hole and crawl in it.
