Chapter 32: She Wanted To Forget Him

 The ride to the hospital was quiet. And Leticia, with a worried look on her face, couldn't help but break the silence.

 "Ash, I know I haven't been exactly welcoming to you in the past few weeks." She reached out to grab her daughter's hand and showed a soft look on her face. "But you're my beloved child. And I care about you. If there's anything, please let me know."

 Ashley turned to stare at her mother, her gaze expressionless. And then, a stiff smile plastered on her face. "I'm fine, mom. I was a bit ill yesterday but I'm better now.", she lied.

 Leticia could obviously tell but she chose to remain quiet about it. Her daughter was just as headstrong as her, she knew. Forcing her to speak wouldn't do any good. "I hope Nathan is taking care of you.

 An unconceivable emotion swirled in Ashley's eyes as she replied to her mother with yet another lie. "Yeah. He is." Leticia smiled before leaning back to look at down at her phone.
