Chapter 44: Should I bail you out?

"Trust me, Mia. You are better than Fiona."

Mia sighed. "You're lucky, Declan. You and Fiona would make a beautiful couple. I'm sure the whole world is shipping you guys."

He hated hearing that from her. He didn't want Mia shipping him with some woman. "Are you shipping us too, Mia?"

Silence on the other side. He waited for her to gather her thoughts, but there was no response at all.

"Do you hear me, Mia? Are you shipping us together?"

She cleared her throat. "I... I am shipping you guys. You would make an amazing couple together."

Declan frowned. For some reason, it angered him. The fact that she could easily ship him with another woman. "Well, as I said, it's a misunderstanding. I'm not dating Fiona. The news is all wrong, and I am going to correct it soon. So, there's nothing to congratulate me about."

"But..."

"No 'buts,' Mia," he snapped. "I don't want to talk about it anymore."

"I'm sorry, Declan."
