Chapter 84: Balance of power

Suddenly the prisoner opened his eyes, the most intense green eyes stared directly into his face and Aubrey immediately felt self conscious.

Those mesmerizing eyes of the prisoner was like staring into the abyss of a bottomless pit.

Or taking a step into the jade green waters of a lagoon where no matter how deep one dived the ground could not be reached.

He took a step back from the prisoner without even realizing it, so much for having the upper hand, Aubrey thought. 

His face reddened with embarrassment at already trying to make himself shrink and feel less conspicuous than the perfect specimen lying down on the bed.

The man had not even opened his mouth yet but just his presence alone was enough to put distance between them.

Reminding Aubrey that he was from the serf class even though he fought his way up to middle class 

There was still a huge gap between the middle class and the ostentatious wealth of the nobility.
