Eelyasha rolled her eyes but didn't respond. There was a clear shift in her demeanor, though. She seemed less hostile and more... curious, perhaps. It seemed like my words had indeed gotten through to her.

"Listen, Eelyasha," I continued, "If you need help with adapting to this new situation, feel free to ask the girls. I will come and visit if you want, or I can just leave you be, but I would prefer that we got to know each other better."

"Why? Just so you can have better control over my mother?! Just so you can use her again? Use both of us?!" Eelyasha demanded, and I put a hand over my face, shaking my head, trying to keep my cool.
