Chapter 4: Attack On The Treehouse [Ch. 4]

Jungle Biome, OverWorld

Merlin's Treehouse

"Hurry Elena," Merlin said as he frantically ran around the treehouse, gathering valuable potions, and spellbooks. "They're almost here! I can feel their presence growing."

Elena was digging in a chest over by the wall of bookshelves. The torches on the oak wood planked walls continued to burn. As she was digging around in the chest, throwing items out onto the pink colored jungle wood planks, a faint explosion was heard in the near distance.

Elena and Merlin froze. They looked out of the window to the south. The reflection of the flames starting to burn the towering jungle trees reflected in Merlin and Elena's eyes.

"We're out of time!" Merlin said. "I can stall them. But I won't be able to hold them off forever. Grab as many things as you can."

Merlin then walked out of the library room and into the room with a tree trunk in the center. The leaves in the room acted as a roof. He began climbing down the vines in a hurry.

"Merlin! Wait for me!" Elena shouted as she picked up the items off of the floor and put them into her inventory. Once all of the items were in her inventory, she ran into the other room. Quickly, without any hesitation, beginning her climb down the vines towards the grounds below. And oh boy was it a long way down.

"Of course Merlin had to pick the tallest tree. What a silly turtle he is!" Elena said to herself.

She looked down at the approaching ground. Merlin touched down onto the ground. He was now standing on top of some leaves, staring out into the near distance.

From about fifty blocks away NetherBrine, HeroBrine, and EnderBrine were approaching fast. They were walking in unison next to one another.

"Here comes my good old friend Frank the Ghast," NetherBrine said as he rose his arms into the air. A large Ghast began rising out of the ground slowly, screeching loudly. Once Frank the Ghast was flying in the air, NetherBrine stopped walking. His eyes turned black from their original red color.

"HeroBrine," EnderBrine said.

"Yes father?" HeroBrine said.

EnderBrine smiled evilly and laughed demonically. "Let's give them a light show, shall we?"

"With pleasure Father," HeroBrine said as he slowly lifted off of the ground and was now flying in midair. EnderBrine continued walking forward, waving his arms to the sides.

Doing so, he cleared all of the trees and obstructions out of the way. All that remained was the grass and a few leaves. The tall trees vanished into thin air. Panda's were running away. Monkey's were angered that their trees were destroyed.

They began throwing their poop at EnderBrine. In response, he clapped his hands together once. The monkeys vanished into thin air. White particles rose into the air after the monkeys disappeared.

"Create a distraction. I need time to cast this spell!" Merlin said as Elena looked at him. She could see the fear growing in his eyes.

"What spell is it?" Elena asked as she pulled out her crossbow from her inventory. She had a few poisonous arrows on hand. Elena was going to put those arrows to good use.

"Hey you there! Ugly!" Elena said as she began running away. EnderBrine didn't bother to take his eyes off Merlin.

Merlin was standing near the only entrance to his treehouse, holding an enchanted book in his left hand and a wand in his right hand.

"Goddess of the OverWorld. Give me strength," Merlin said before beginning to read the spell from his spell book. After he had kindly asked the Goddess to give him strength, an army of Iron Golems spawn before him.

They glanced down at Merlin, their leader.

"You see that entity over there? Stop him!" Merlin instructed the iron golems. They nodded their heads slightly and began marching, swinging their strong, shiny metal arms. "I thank you Goddess."

An echoing voice only Merlin could hear, responded, "you're welcome dear friend. For the OverWorld!"

Merlin faintly smiled before refocusing on his task that he needed to complete. He began flipping through the pages of his spell book quickly before stopping on one page. "Here we go. Let's hope this works."

Frank the Ghast was being controlled by NetherBrine. NetherBrine was standing a short distance away from where Merlin's treehouse was.

"Alright Frank," NetherBrine said, "let's give them a show they won't forget."

Frank the Ghast began flying forward. His tentacles were flapping around beneath him. Elena froze as she looked up the massive Ghast floating in the sky above her.

"Holy cow!" Elena shouted. "What the heck is that thing?"

EnderBrine raised his arm into the air. As he did that, a cage made of iron bars rose up from the ground, entrapping Elena inside. The ground beneath Elena turned from grass to lava. There were four sticky pistons on each side of the cage with glass blocks attached to them.

A redstone trail on the ground leads to a lever nearby. If EnderBrine were to clap his hands, the pistons would retract, sending her to her untimely demise.

"Merlin!" Elena shouted, "watch out!"

Frank the Ghast spit seven fireballs out of his mouth. They were floating through the air, heading right for Merlin and his treehouse.

HeroBrine used his most powerful ability yet—lightning strikes. Powerful lightning bolts shot down from the sky, striking two iron golems. The iron golems began shaking as their entire metal bodies began rapidly shaking.

EnderBrine was now only four blocks away from Merlin. That's when Merlin decided to deviate from his original plan. His wand began glowing as he cast his first spell. Anvils began raining down from oblivion, hitting the ground with immense force.

EnderBrine disappeared. Purple particles floated away. Then suddenly, he reappeared behind Merlin. Merlin turned around, but wasn't fast enough. EnderBrine managed to take his wand away from him.

From the cage, Elena could see NetherBrine standing in the open. The spacing of the iron bars was evenly spaced. She aimed her crossbow at NetherBrine and shot a single poisonous arrow at him.

The arrow flew cleanly through the air, striking NetherBrine in the chest. He gasped for air as the arrow pierced through his body. His eyes turned back to the eerie red color.

HeroBrine shouted. EnderBrine looked up and over at the location of where NetherBrine was standing. His mouth dropped as he saw his son fall down onto his knees.

"Father?" NetherBrine said as he suddenly disappeared into thin air. White particles rose into the air before dissolving away.

EnderBrine rapped Merlin's shoulders, turning him into a chicken. Merlin's inventory contents spilled out onto the ground. There were powerful potions, diamond crafted weapons, food and a single enchanted book.

Frank the Ghast screeched ever so loudly. A tear slipped down its head and fell down to the ground. EnderBrine smiled as he began walking over to Elena's cage.

He disappeared into thin air and reappeared by the lever that would seal Elena's fate. He stared at Elena, taunting her.

"Should I dare flip this lever and send you to your untimely demise?" EnderBrine questioned.

"No! Wait! Please don't do—," Elena said as EnderBrine flipped the lever, retracting the sticky pistons. She fell into the lava trap. Her entire body began burning. And just like that, she was slaughtered by EnderBrine. Her inventory contents burned to a crisp. She had valuable potions, a book titled The Forbidden Cave of the OverWorld, and some cheap chain armor. They were all burned. It was almost like she was never there.

"That was for NetherBrine!" EnderBrine said as he clapped his hands together once more. This time, ignited TNT blocks began falling from the sky. The TNT detonated upon impact with the ground. Everything around him and HeroBrine began to be demolished and set aflame.

Pandas, Monkeys, Ocelots, and Tigers began fleeing the burning Jungle. HeroBrine slowly descended back onto the ground, approaching his father. The two of them grabbed each other's hands, vanishing into thin air.

They left behind total mass destruction. This was definitely a major setback for Daniel and Petra's quest. Merlin has been turned into a chicken, all of his spell books, potions, and the only key to saving the OverWorld were all destroyed.

The flames were spreading quickly throughout the Jungle, burning anything and everything that stood in its path. Come dawn, there would be nothing left but a wasteland of what used to be a Jungle.

Ceres opened his eyes. He was sitting down outside in the sand. He gasped at the vision he had just seen. Ceres had watched the entire fight go down. Unable to help them win, he began to feel guilty.

Daniel and Petra were inside a small temporary house they had built to sleep in for the night. A campfire was still burning outside, close to where Ceres was sitting.

The campfire crackled and popped as the fire continued to burn the oak wood logs. Light grey smoke arose as the fire burned, before fizzling away.

Ceres reaches into his inventory to take out his map. As he looked down at the map, the part of the map that used to show the Jungle Biome, was now blank. How is he going to relay this devastating news to Daniel and Petra once they awake in the morning?

This was definitely a major blow to their overall plan. Ceres didn't see Merlin, who was turned into a chicken, running away from the burning jungle. That gave him a terrible thought. Is Merlin gone too? Just like how EnderBrine killed his apprentice Elena?

Ceres had to find out. Having all of the necessary answers was key to explaining what had happened to Daniel and Petra. He closed his eyes again.

"Goddess of the OverWorld," he said, "take me back to the Jungle Biome."

Then the vision returned. Ceres was now back within the burning Jungle. His celestial body form was now standing in the middle of the wild fire. The loud noises of the fires crackling and popping disorientated Ceres.

He started scanning his nearby surroundings for any sign of a chicken. But to no avail, did he see Merlin the chicken. He gulped, taking into account the possibility of Merlin being dead.

"Merlin!" Ceres shouted, "Merlin? Can you hear me? Follow my voice if you can hear me."

A chicken clucking was heard nearby. Ceres followed the clucking chicken noise. After walking about seven blocks deeper into the chaos around him, he had found Merlin.

Merlin was surrounded by fire and burning leaves, and wood. The tree where Merlin's tree house was built in was engulfed in flames. The flames were slowly making their way up to the top of the tree as it burned.

"They need to be stopped," Ceres said.

Merlin clucked twice. Ceres rolled his eyes and grabbed his wooden wand out of his inventory. He rested the tip of the wand on Merlin's feathery back. "I hereby return you to your normal form," Ceres said as he tapped the chickens back.

The chicken rose into the air and spun around three times before it turned back into Merlin.

"How could this happen?" Ceres asked, confused and upset that Merlin and his apprentice lost the fight. Merlin slowly turned his head to look at Ceres.

"We didn't know they were coming until it was too late," Merlin responded.

"I assure you, we will defeat them and restore order to the OverWorld. We need to come up with a new plan now."

"I can see you. You're in the desert biome, aren't you?" Merlin asked.

Ceres nodded slowly. Merlin padded Ceres on the shoulder. "I'm coming to your location. Stay where you are. I'll be there by dawn."

"Will do, friend. See you soon," Ceres responded, "and please, for the OverWorld's sake, stay safe and avoid all mobs."

"I will," Merlin said, "no need to worry, friend."
