Chapter 38: Chapter 37 – Battle Trials (part 1)

Kyotaka's POV

The Next Day

After I arrived to school, I wondered how my second day at U.A. would begin, I hoped it would be less intense than yesterday, but that wasn't what really was on my mind.

No, it was when Raiko had called me Taka yesterday night. I know it's just a nickname, and I'm sure he didn't even realize he had called me that in the moment, but I still kept thinking about it. It didn't bother me,no…quite the contrary, in fact….But I couldn't get it out of my mind.

I mean, only my parents called me that, normally, so it was quite a surprise when he said it so…naturally. But if he calls me by my nickname, does that mean I need to find him one? Will it bother him?

Argh

As I was walking toward 1-A, I was ejected out of my thoughts by Kyoka who talked to me. Good, I needed to change my thoughts.

"Yo! Good morning Kyotaka! You don't mind if I call you that right? You can call me Kyoka. What do you think we'll do this morning?"

"No, I dont mind if you call me Kyotaka. And honestly, I don't know what we'll do, but yesterday, Aizawa-sensei handed us documents, our schedule is probably in it." I replied to her. If we called each other by our first names, that probably meant we were now friends. Did it?

"Oh, you're right. We only have normal classes this morning, but this afternoon we have heroics! And tomorrow we have a joint class of heroics and quirk analysis. I'm quite curious about quirk analysis, I wonder what we'll do during this class." Kyoka said, looking at her schedule.

"But the teacher interests me more, he said he's only fifteen, but he's already a teacher, is inhumanly strong and fast and has godlike stamina. And he has a degree and works with heroes. He's pretty amazing…Makes me feel like I've been wasting my time a bit. More importantly, you know him, he even called you by your first name… Anything you can share about him? I want all the details. I won't say anything to anyone, you can trust me!" She continued, teasing me again.

I stayed silent, ignoring her, and entered the class, expertly dodging her question. I was what could be considered a professional at this. I also was desperately trying not to think about Raiko, but Kyoka really wasn't helping me.

"You're no fun, Kyotaka!" Kyoka whined.

.

The morning passed pretty quickly, we had English with Present Mic, which was definitely weird, he was soooo loud, and I already was fluent in English, Knockout had made me learn it because villains often spoke English. After that, we had modern literature with Cementoss, who was a surprisingly good teacher and math with Ectoplasm, who could clone himself, so that made him another excellent teacher.

Then it was lunch, and U.A. had Lunch Rush, the cooking hero, working at the cafeteria, so the food was divine, but I still think that the ramen I ate yesterday with Raiko was better…

Before I realized it, it was time for hour heroics class. Just as I was thinking about who our heroics teacher would be, All Might entered the class and made his trademark heroic pose and smile.

"COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON"

Most of my classmates started to whisper and enter "fan mode" when All Might entered the class, and, while I also admired him as a hero, I wasn't a crazy fan like most people were.

Those fan could recognize which costume he was wearing, knew all his super moves and could recite all the villains he had defeated in the last five years by heart. That was actually a little creepy if you ask me.

All Might spoke, more like shouted, again:

"Hero Basic Training! The class that'll put you into all sorts of special training to mold you into heroes."

"No time to dally, today's activity is this!," the number one hero continued, holding a card with "Battle Training" written on it.

I knew it! I knew that we were going to fight our classmates at some point, that's why I hid most of my quirk. I'm pretty sure that the battle training will be against our classmates, it would be the most efficient way to do it.

He then handed us our hero costumes that were made in accordance to the requests we made and told us to get changed before going to ground Beta.

I took the metal box inside of which my costume was and got into the changing rooms. After changing, I took a good look at myself and was pretty satisfied with the work the support department had done.

My hero costume was a silver bodysuit (the same shade as my hair) that was reinforced by multiple layers of different materials, so that it could absorb shocks and was elements proof. It had two big vertical black stripes on the right and left side and included a black tactical belt with multiple tools on it. It was very light, as I specifically requested, I didn't want it to hinder my speed. Also they made it a bit too skintight, but I guess it would have to do.

I was still very satisfied with it, I was really surprised that they had managed to make my costume this lightweight.

My accessories were two metal gauntlets and that massively amplified any sound output, it allowed me to output more power while using less energy. I don't know who had created it, but they had done a fantastic work, it was working perfectly and had a couple of other functions I didn't even ask for.

Once I was finished, I arrived with the rest of the class to the training ground and had a good look at them. I could see that I wasn't the only one who had received a skintight costume, and I'd say I was among the lucky ones. Momo, on the other hand, had a costume showing the maximum amount of skin legally allowed, I think. A big nope for me, but it was her costume, so...

I got to Kyoka, who had a pink shirt, and black jacket and black pants, along with boots and gloves I was pretty sure had a special use. We talked about our costumes for a bit until all of the class was there.

All Might explained that we would do an indoor battle training following this scenario: terrorists (villain team) had hid a nuclear weapon somewhere inside a five-story building and heroes (hero team) have to go in and take care of it.

The teams would be decided by drawing lots, hero teams would have a limited amount of time to neutralize the villains (using capture tapes) or to take care of the nuclear weapon (by touching it). There would also be a small preparation time for the villains.

I ended up with Hakagure, which was quite good since her quirk made her invisible, but it didn't silence her steps or prevented her from making sounds. By my quirk could, she could be an invisible and completely silent person if I was with her. We were team I.

The first teams to do the Battle Trial were team A (Midoriya and Ochako) vs team D (Bakugou and Iida). I had a bad feeling about it, I knew it would go out of hand, it was clear that Midoriya and Bakugou had history, the latter had probably bullied the former, and knowing Bakugou's temper, he would probably try something dangerous or completely stupid (or both).

The Battle Trial started and, not so surprisingly, Bakugou immediately rushed trying to find Midoryia, completely disregarding his own teammate. Bakugou did something completely stupid, check

He was then outsmarted by Midoriya, and after a bit of a cat-and-mouse game, Bakugou got furious and blasted part of the building into smithereens. Yep, definitely behaving like a villain, he could've severely injured Midoriya, maybe even killed him. Bakugou did something dangerous, check.

After that, Midoriya used his quirk to provide an opportunity for his teammate, which would've been the smart thing to do, if he didn't broke his whole arm while doing so. But it was still enough for the heroes to win.

I knew that this would end in a sh*tshow, but Bakugou still managed to surpass my expectations, he tried, knowing full well what he was doing, to injure a classmate…

Still, it was time for the next battle, who just happened to be mine. I was against Todoroki and Shoji, and Hakagure and I were the villains.

It would be very interesting…

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
TheOnlyRaiko TheOnlyRaiko

Really sorry for the short chapter, but this fight will take a whole chapter. And I just didn’t have the motivation to write more today, my day was really sh*tty.

Short story, while I was cycling, my bike broke, I fell and my phone broke. Then I had to walk home, while bringing my bike with me, but I was pretty far away.

But I’m fine except for the fact that I’m in a really bad mood.

Hope you all had a better day than mine.

Sorry, the other extra chapter I promised will be tomorrow and it will be the last chapter in Kyotaka's POV.
