Chapter 6: Chapter 6- The importnce of weight

Before I start, can someone explain to me what is the difference between putting 's or s' after a word? I'm really confused about this... I just use 's for all my stuff by this seems to be wrong and I don't know the correct rules.

=========================================================

The leader slowly walked forward. He lifted his hand, and a blade popped out of the leader's wrist. It was a small blade, relatively speaking, it had the width of a small dagger and it had a shiny silver color.

The blade elongated itself quickly in an attempt to piece David's head, but David immediately rolled to the side, dodging the blade by a hair's width. However, as soon as the blade passed David's head, it immediately turned around and was now shooting at David's chest from the back.

David was panicking at the blade's intelligent movements as he got up and ran to the nearby collapsed wall. Unfortunately, the blade was right on his tail, twisting and turning to target David's head. It only took the blade a few meters to catch up to David, but as soon as the blade speed up for a thrust, David arrived at the wall that crushed his mother. David had no time to check on her, as he picked up a piece of concrete the size of a brick, and he attempted to block the incoming blade while enchanting the concrete for it to become tougher.

The blade and the concrete clashed, but the blade was the clear winner as it started to pierce the concrete at an alarming rate. "What is this bullshit?!" David yelled. He knew the normal capabilities of a blade, his mother's favorite weapons were two daggers for crying out loud, and she could never pierce a concrete piece this thick, much less a strengthened piece. The weapon simply couldn't handle the stress. 'Great, so he can control this thing, and it's tougher than regular steel? I don't know what I was expecting'. David sighed mentally as he began to brainstorm ideas for defeating his enemy.

But before David even started to think, the blade completely pierced the brick and continued to shoot towards David's exposed chest. But for some unknown reason, the blade suddenly fell to the ground and went between David's legs. 'Huh?' David wondered, but before he could arrive at any conclusion, the blade came at him again.

David knew something happened. The blade could have pierced his unprotected chest easily, yet it went down instead. David began to buy time by running around and complicating the blade's route. He then noticed something, the brick was missing. 'Of course! It's a very long blade and its only support from the ground is the leader. It needs to be incredibly light still be in the air after it stretched so much, so if I enchant it and enhance its weight, it would be taken care of! Now the only question is how'.

David knew he couldn't attempt to simply grab the blade, one wrong move and he will undoubtedly be killed. *Slash*, David's thigh was hit by the blade, and it left a deep cut. David needed to end the fight as quickly as possible since he won't win a war of attrition. David picked up a concrete brick in an attempt to get the blade stuck again, but once the blade was blocked by the brick it retreated immediately. David blocked the blade with the brick dozens of times by now, and he was quickly growing tired. "Wha?!" David yelped in surprise as his back was cut.

The blade had become so long, that David received a cut from where the blade previously went through. The area had become a blade prison that slowly closed in on David as the blade moved closer, blocking escape from any direction while circling around David. David was at a loss, his time was running out and he had nothing to do but wait. David couldn't go out like this, he had to protect his parents and the other quirkless. And suddenly, he noticed something.

David couldn't grab the blade for fearing that it will pierce his vital organs before he could fully weigh it down and render it useless, but that was only for the tip. What if David touched the blade where it passed? The leader seems to only control the tip fully, otherwise, he would be long gone. And even if the leader could have controlled the blade in its other areas, he couldn't damage David as much. David immediately took the opportunity and turned around to grab the part of the blade that cut him, and with no hesitation, he increased the blade's weight as much as he could.

It worked. With its only anchor to the ground being the leader, the blade fell down fast with no support. All that was left was a 40-meter-long metal blade stretched all around the battlefield. "Shit!", the leader yelled. The leader retracted his blade with a very urgent look, but the blade stretched out too long for him to retract before David could sprint across the distance between them. But David couldn't do that, because he dropped his weapon when his father pushed him down.

It became a test of speed. Whether the leader could retract his blade first, or could David kill him with a weapon. David gave up on finding his staff, and he picked up a piece of concrete to do the job. But he lost precious time making and acting on his decision, and when he started running the blade was only ten meters long. David sprinted as if his life was depending on it, which it did, and the leader did the same with his blade. But unfortunately, David wasn't quick enough.

"I got it!" The leader yelled as the blade got a manageable size, that of a long dagger, and he prepared to strike at David who reached him a step later. David had too much momentum, he couldn't stop and avoid the leaders' strike, he couldn't even duck as he would tumble forward from his speed. But as David prepared himself for the impact, it was not his scream that was heard. The leader screamed and coughed up blood, as a spear came through his chest, with his heart stuck on it. "Good move, David". Ethan said as he still had one hand covering his missing eye and an expression of agony. The leader was so focused on his blade and the approaching David, he didn't notice Ethan coming up behind him with his spear.
