Tom, wearing the most common type of robe seen in Baghdad, appeared different, however. The robe was filthy, his face now adorned with a bunch of whiskers, and his spectacles, one leg broken and fixed with tape, sat on his nose. Under his arm, he held a black cloth bag, and he wore a pair of plastic sandals bought for four US dollars.
Under the scorching sun, Tom walked toward a villa hotel. Without a doubt, he was stopped by the guard at the door.
Tom didn't try to enter, he just quietly waited for a moment, and then Gao Guang came running out.
Gao Guang stared at Tom in confusion for a long while, prompting Tom to say in a low voice, "I am Tom."
One could recognize from his voice that this was indeed Tom, but his appearance was altogether unrecognizable.
