Chapter 7: Applying

"Can you show where the familias live?" Keres said as he stood up from his seat slowly.

"Sure and why do you get up like an old man ~Nyaa?"

(You try breaking a decades old habit!)

"I like to take things a little slow."

Chloe smiled at his peculiarity.

"So which family do you want to apply to first ~Nyaa"

"Which one is closest?"

"That will be the Hephaestus familia." Chloe answered as she began to walk.

Keres followed doing the best he can to keep his back from hunching over as he walked.

"Are you part of any familia Chloe?"

(She released some killing intent!)

Although the killing intent Chloe released was barely anything Keres still noticed. Chloe looked at Keres and gave him a genuine smile.

"I'm part of the Hostess of Fertility familia ~Nyaa"

(If only if I knew my lore better. But she definitely has some resentment towards a familia.)

Along the way to the Hephaestus familia. Keres learned that Chloe has been working at the pub for the last couple of years. Where each familia is located in each district and general landmarks of the city.

Reaching their destination the sky was dark as the city lights begin to glow.

"If you get rejected you should be able to find a bed at Maria's orphanage. Also don't forget to visit me. Goodluck ~Nyaa."

After saying goodbye to Chloe. Keres looked at the ornate doors in front of him and knocked. Yet before he was able to knock the door opened revealing a tanned woman with black hair, an eye patch over her left eye, and wearing a sarashi.

"I'll have the report ready in a few days see you th-"

The woman stopped as she felt someone touch her chest. Turning her head forward to look who it was she saw a young boy who was no taller than five feet looking back at her with an apologetic smile.

(Oh shit. Probably bout to get smacked.)

"Sorry, you walked out as soon as I tried to knock."

The woman began to laugh as she grabbed Keres by the shoulders and pulled him into the building. Keres was held to the strong woman's side. He felt like his ribs were about to break and thought he heard some creaking noises.

Keres hoping to relieve the pressure his ribs were bearing spoke with as much sincerity he could muster, "I really did not mean to touch your breasts mam."

The woman continued to laugh as she walked. After entering what seemed to be a large living room. The woman grabbed a chair and put Keres into it. Taking her own seat she she looked at Keres with a wide smile.

"Tsubaki captain of the Hephaestus familia. Since you copped a feel you owe me one." Tsubaki appeared to be quite relaxed and friendly despite what Keres did. She found it interesting that she failed to notice the boy when she was about to leave. Inadvertently letting him touch her although she would never admit this.

(Don't really remember her and I didn't really get to feel anything but considering her monstrous strength I better keep my mouth shut.)

"Keres. Sure no problem. What do you need me to do?" Keres liked her straightforward manner. He always found that people like her were quite easy to get along with. Though they can be a bit stubborn at times.

Tsubaki sat back, crossed her arms in front of her chest, and looked to be in contemplation. She thought that theirs nothing really at the moment the boy in front of her can do to compensate for his action.

"Let me get back to you on that. So what made you come to the Hephaestus family quarters so late at night? All the shops are closed by now and I've never heard of you before. Do you know one of the smiths?"

"I came to join the familia."

Hearing this Tsubaki examined Keres and doubted he ever worked in a forge with his scrawny body. Though she decided to ask anyways to confirm her suspicion. "You a smith?"

"No but I do want to learn."

"Although you learning how to be a smith won't be a problem. We can't just accept any random person coming in. So tell me why should we accept you?" Tsubaki liked Keres but her familia had no need for useless people.

Keres looked around and saw that they were alone and in a soft voice said. "I can teleport instantaneously and use space storage magic."

Tsubakis eyes went wide in amazement and grabbed Keres by the shoulders and shaked him. "Are you serious!" Forgetting her own strength she nearly shook poor Keres to death.

(Isn't magic common in Danmachi?!)

Keres felt like his neck was about to break from the shaking at any moment and pleaded for her to stop. Tsubaki came back to her senses got up from the chair. "Follow me."

Tsubaki felt quite excited as there has never been a adventure who can teleport on command nor use storage magic. Leading him to a room they went inside. After locking the door she turned back to Keres. "Show me." ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The room was overall empty except for three crates in the corner. Its size was more than enough to showcase Keres teleportation ability. Keres walked to one side of the room and appeared on the other side. After this he walked up to the crates and put them inside his storage.

Tsubaki seeing Keres display was ecstatic. And rapidly asked in an excited manner "How many times can you teleport and how far? How much can you store?"

"As for how many times I can teleport well I don't know but I do know that the farther I go the amount of energy increases. And I don't know how much I can store. Um isn't magic common? "

"Not the magic you can use. Instantaneous teleportation and storage magic are extremely versatile magic! Never before seen!"

"So does that mean I can join?"

"Of course. Come on lets it done right now!"

"Wait right n-" Keres was picked up by Tsubaki again and was subject to experiencing his ribs crying again. Tsubaki ran throughout the compound reaching a separated building that looked small and cozy. She ran up to the door squeezing poor Keres in excitement and banged on the door. The sounds echoing into the night.

After a couple of seconds of waiting the door opened and a womanly gruff annoyed sounding voice spoke. "I was just about to fall asleep Tsubaki what is it?"
