Chapter 81: Her so-called family

Seok Jin's POV

"Lilac are you ok?" I asked.

"Yeah I'm fine. Just some unknown number calling." Lilac replied with an indifferent tone.

I guess she really don't want to talk about it. As I was about to say something else, another call came in. And this time it's still Lilac's phone.

"I guess I'm pretty busy today. Hang on a while. You can walk around and see my apartment if you don't mind." Lilac said as she walked off to accept the call.

I walked around the place and couldn't find any picture of Lilac when she was young. As I was walking to get some water to the kitchen, I passed by her room and I could hear her shouting from inside.

"No stop. Don't mention about them. I don't have a family anymore." Lilac said.

"No. Don't force me. I don't want to have anything to do with them. You know that very well Jo. I

told you so many times already stay away from them. Just walk a different direction when you see them. What they stopped you? How low can they go somemore? ......…. Alright I will see when I'm free to go back….. Bye" Lilac said.

Before she could open the door, I ran into the kitchen so that she wouldn't catch me eavesdropping. When I was drinking my water, I could feel someone staring at me. When I turn around, I saw that Lilac's eyes were puffy and red. It looks like she had cried in her room just now. Before I could say anything, she rushed into my arms and hugged me. At that moment, she looks like a little kitten that had just lost her mother.

"Just don't ask me any question for now." Lilac said while sniffling.

"Ok. Cry all you want. I will stay with you." I said while hugging her back and patting her back giving

her sense of safety.

I think we stood there for about 10 minutes before she stopped crying. I felt bad seeing here cry like that. It's like my heart breaks with her crying non stop. I wanted to comfort her but I don't know how to. I have never comfort a girl before.

"Hey Lilac you ok?" I asked.

"Yeah I'm feeling better now. Sorry for dirtying your shirt." Lilac said.

"Nah it's ok. So do you want to talk about what happened?" I asked.

"Well it's about my so called family. Just now the first phone call was my sister. Then the second call was from Jo. She said that my dad is dying of cancer and wanted to meet me for the last time. But I wasn't willing to go back because for all my life they've been using me. I've never been treated like a family before and I don't like that feeling. That's one of the reason why I ran here. I want to be far away from them to get comfort and heal myself." Lilac explained to me.

"Oh I see. Sorry that I'm not good at comforting people." I said.
