Chapter 195: Take me there

It's been eight hours since Karina left Silver Lake and Veron had not stepped out of the room. Standing on the balcony, hands on the railings and a lit cigar between his lips, his eyes surveyed the landscape behind the palace.

His mind, however, was occupied by different thoughts that were proving hard to decipher. They were almost driving him insane. 

But amongst all his thoughts, one refused to rest. Even if he tried to push it to the back of his mind so he could focus on other things, it kept popping back up. How did Frederick escape that fire and survive that battle? 

"I hope you don't expect to get answers just by standing here." He heard Gerrard's voice in his head. 

After last night, he had not heard from Gerrard again. Even when all the drama was unfolding that morning, the wolf was quiet. It was as if the wolf just deserted him.
