That night, the two girls couldn't sleep for different reasons. Karina remained awake because she had been sleeping for hours and only woke up before they escaped. She didn't feel tired or sleepy.
Nori, on the other hand, couldn't shut her eyes because of fear. Having woken up to find herself chained in a cell, she was scared of that happening again, thereby giving her no room for sleep.
Laying on her stomach, with her face turned to the side, she gazed at Karina, who lay on her back, staring at the ceiling. Ever since she related what happened to Karina, the latter had been moody. But she noticed it worsened when she mentioned the enemy part.
She had been trying to cheer her up, but to no avail, and it was beginning to worsen her own mood too. Not that she was in a great mood or anything, she was just trying not to let what had happened to affect her too much. That way, she can think properly.
