Chapter 29: At The Mercy Of A god

Valerie kissed her hard. It took her by surprise and by the time Islinda had the sense to reciprocate, he pulled back and her head was spinning. Desire pooled in her lower belly and there was now an ache at her core. 

He towered over her and she glanced up at him, the heat in his eyes stealing her breath away. It was no wonder Fae could not blend with humans because his beauty was devastating and there was that unnatural glow about him.

Humans would always be able to sense he wasn't one of them. They were predators, the apex of the food chain and Islinda began to wonder what she was doing with one. Perhaps, she really desired death? 

Valerie closed the space between them once more but he didn't kiss her, instead, he let their breath mingle and she could sense his hesitation. He lowered his lips to her ear, causing goosebumps to erupt on her arms and said, 

"You can stop this now. I'm not going to force you to do what you don't want to or you are not ready for?"
