"What did Dalrae mean by that?" Jihoon asked Daehyun who had been glaring daggers at the tonic they were supposed to drink. He had carried it with him when they left the palace because he was sure he wouldn't need the tonic.

Granted, the substance was just a portion, but it was supposed to be of help. Besides, the prince's welcoming ceremony was already over and the wolves were heading home. It would be a long ride, but one they had to go on.

"Hell if I know," Daehyun said even though he was worried that Jihoon could see right through him. They had known each other for a long time.

He never meant to lie to his alpha, but he couldn't exactly tell Jihoon that he had heard Rania say something that could overturn the whole trial. It was risky, so he was going to keep his mouth shut. At least until he got more information, but where was he even supposed to get that from?
