The City Lord watched as a group that was supposed to win, with their superior numbers and superior cultivation than their opponent, had been beaten up easily without breaking a sweat.
His gaping mouth makes his old friends chuckle. "So you see why we said you don't need to intervene," the president said, watching as another Genesis Source expert got acquainted with the wall.
"Yeah, so he knew his match going to be rigged?" the city lord asked, wanting to confirm it.
"Yup, and he had been banking on it. He wanted to make them come at him, with you being present to witness how corrupted the management of the arena had been. After all, even the Itol wouldn't be forgiven if they did something wrong.
Oh, and looks like he is going for the second phase," the president exclaimed, watching the young man dragging one of the beaten Genesis Source experts. During the time he had been talking with his friends, the young man had beaten a group of people one major realm stronger than him, showing his true strength.
They watched as the young man dragged the beaten foe before he put his on his head and squeezed it. Some of the spectators gasped as the opponent screamed, begging him to stop, something he didn't do of course.
When the City Lord was about to ask the point of torturing a beaten foe, a powerful aura emerged from one of the grand-looking spectator's seats.
-x-
Ryker hadn't cared about the forces being sent to beat him during his match. After all, they were merely small fries compared to the big ones he had been trying to fish. His threatening to break the skull of his foe is the way he will use to get the hidden figure behind the corruption of the arena.
After all, who could rig so many matches without being related to the overseer of the arena himself, the head of the Itol Family? The aura of an expert at the Genesis Lake realm still makes him shiver though, as his current strength is too weak to do anything but die in front of such an expert if he comes to a full-blown fight with him.
"You dare try to kill someone from my family! I'm going to punish you for daring to break the rule of the arena!" despite the overwhelming power, Ryker couldn't help but scoff inside his head. He had read the rules and there is none of it about not being allowed to hurt a member of a powerful family.
His thought was seemingly shared by the creator of the arena as an even more powerful aura emerged from the supposedly empty seat, the City Lord of Karbin City showing himself and unleashing his rage towards the head of the Itol Family.
"He?! When it was you who dared to break the rules I set?!" the City Lord's voice is like thunder as his aura easily overwhelmed the head of the Itol Family and restrained the man, the head screaming for the person trapping him to release him only to realize who was the one that holds him.
"City Lord?!" the head of the Itol Family stammered. "w-what a-are y-you d-doing h-here?" the man dared to ask, his question making the City Lord even angrier judging by how the man squawk in pain.
"What I'm doing here? I should be the one asking you that. After all, I ask you to manage the arena. What I see today makes me disappointed," the City Lord said, before one of his trusted subordinates, a man at the 7th Stage of Genesis Lake realm, gave him a storage ring.
"This storage ring contains every single information of the corruption. To which matches had been rigged, to how many of the talents in the arena that should have the chance to be scouted to join the elite units had been killed because they fought and beat the members of the Itol Family," the man elaborated, making the City Lord's face to turn even more twisted from rage.
The restrained head tried to claim his innocence but the City Lord had no desire to listen to what he had to say. He just slapped the man repeatedly until his teeth fell out and blood flowed from his mouth, his cheek swollen from the force of his slap.
When the annoyance was finally unable to speak, the City Lord proceeded to read the document. Each and every one he read made his anger burn even more as he realized how deep and long the corruption had been in the establishment he created for the sake of his beloved city.
After reading the document, he looked at his man and asked, "What about the rest of the Itol Family members?"
"They had been monitored. With the exception of children and the mortals of the family, most of our elites are ready to execute the higher-ups while the weaker members will be sentenced to slavery," the man answered.
"Is it because.." he didn't continue, merely looking at the young man who was still restraining the members of the Itol Family he had been fighting.
"It seems that way. When the president of the Craftsman Alliance talked about doing him a favor, I didn't expect it would lead to this," the man sighed. The City Lord couldn't agree more.
"And it all because the lover of the kid had been forced to fight a rigged match," the casual statement the City Lord just said made his subordinate not know whether to laugh or cry. The reason for the Itol Family's downfall is that they had messed with someone with such a great connection when they had been using their position and abusing it for a long time.
Truly, karma is real.
"Looks like I should give my sentence to the Itol Family, then," the City Lord said before his voice boomed across the city.
"Today, I had found out the Itol Family had done an unforgivable crime, of abusing their powers and taking the lives of talented cultivators of our city. Their crimes had made your city unable to produce elites that can stem off the bandit excursion, and for that, they are all guilty.
Their punishment is as such, the main line and higher-ups of the Itol Family shall be killed without mercy, while the rest will be sold to slavery. Guards of Karbin City, do your duty,"
"By the will of the City Lord, it shall be done!" the guards roared before they all began to hunt for the Itol Family members. After hearing their sentence by the City Lord, they tried to run away but the captain of the guards had been involved with the show from the start and so, had made his men keep an eye on them.
This resulted in none of them being able to escape, all being captured and executed for some within the next hour.
