Chapter 7: 06

"Is it artificial intelligence or just an alert? Hmm, what are the agents and levels? It sounds cool, but it's getting weirder and weirder." I took note of the new information quite calmly; after the unusual rebirth and the telepathic cat, my limit of shocks for today was exhausted.

Under our gazes, the wall, which turned out to be a door, began to move aside, letting more natural light into the room from the other side.

But quickly coming to their senses, the kittens, all of them without exception, followed the strange cat named Goose. I, seeing that the door smoothly began to close backwards, also accelerated, not wanting to be forgotten.

As I flew through the doorway, I expected to see a lot of things, from the corridor of a spaceship or a space station to a city of the future built by a race of intelligent cat-like aliens, but I didn't think I'd see a penthouse. A normal one like this and quite familiar to my past world.

"I give up, I don't understand anything anymore," I said, losing even a trace of logic, and, like my fellows, I began to look around the fully human apartment, filled with furniture designed for someone with a humanoid body structure. There was design and technology everywhere, not unlike what I had seen in my past life. It was obvious that it was all high-tech, but that only added to the resemblance to the past world, where such things were in vogue. And the architecture of the city building seen through the wide panoramic windows was quite familiar.

Turning back, I saw that the door we'd come out of was now a bookcase. Very interesting.

- Nya! - Gray caught my attention when she saw that I had fallen behind. She didn't know whether to stay with me or run after the rest of our strange family. Deciding not to complicate the kitty's life, I hurried away, catching up with the rest of the family, which had just turned the corner.

After running out of what I realized was the hall, we walked for a while down a corridor furnished with some designer trim and into the kitchen. A cat was already waiting for us there, casting ironic glances in our direction. Next to her was the refrigerator, with six untouched carcasses lying on the ground by the open door. They were bigger than broilers, probably turkeys.

In spite of the young members of the feline family hopping around the birds, my mother wouldn't let any of the siblings touch them, obviously waiting for us.

When she was sure we were all here, she finally stepped away from the turkeys with a final toss:

- Eat up," we didn't need to repeat that twice. We rushed to the cold carcasses. When my mind realized that the food was bigger than ourselves several times over, it decided to ignore it, as the hunger that had manifested itself abruptly was much stronger. So any thoughts of disgust that might arise from having to eat raw meat were immediately quelled by the rumbling in my stomach and the pleasant smell of chilled turkey.

Like a barbarian, I clawed into the breast of my turkey, tearing the thin skin with my teeth and helping myself with my claws. Under the force of my claws, the meat quickly gave way and allowed me to tear off a piece, which I immediately began to swallow without even chewing. Mm, but even so, I felt a real pleasure. Then came another piece of this delicious and incredibly juicy meat. And how delicious it turned out to be!

Tearing off piece after piece, I couldn't get enough, I don't know if it was hunger or my unique taste buds, but I never thought that raw meat could taste so good. It's like a juicy blood steak and a milkshake, such an unusual flavor, mmm.....

I was so engrossed that I didn't immediately notice one oddity, there was only one turkey left in the kitchen. Mine.

There were no remains, not even bones from them, only small puddles from under the melted ice, which proved that it was not a matrix failure and I was not imagining it. At the same time, my kin, including Gray, with their faces full of bliss, were lying with their bellies up, licking, and only Cat was looking at me strangely.

"This is already becoming something of a tradition!" - I remarked sourly. Still not understanding where the other carcasses had gone and what I was doing wrong again.

"Eh, everything needs explaining..." - Said finally the cat with an annoyed-pleased tone and, having bypassed me, she did not hesitate to step on my tail. Out of surprise, I hissed:

- Xiii," but then the unexpected happened. As soon as I opened my mouth, out of my mouth came, uh, worms?

No, they were tentacles! And I felt them as if they were my own. By reflex, they grabbed a piece of meat and pushed it into my mouth, where they disappeared. What happened made me forget about the pain in my tail and grabbed my muzzle with my paws in terror. When I came to my senses, I stared at my nose in shock.

- Fuck me! - I cursed in my voice.

"My father is Davy Jones, my grandfather is Cthulhu," - and already mentally wailed, not having had time to understand and accept what I had and how it came out of my mouth, but in advance I began to list possible ancestors. Somehow my rebirth and the telepathic cat gave way to the first place to the tentacles that came out of me. Speaking of the cat.

When I looked down, I saw not only my mother watching my reaction and laughing good-naturedly, but also my brethren staring at me in surprise, seeing nothing strange in the additional internal organs. They hinted that they were not lacking in them either.

I began to seriously consider the reason of such a "bonus", i.e. our possible father, who, having mated with this cat, made it possible for me to appear, no us - incomprehensible things with the appearance of a cat and the same incomprehensible insides in us.

The thought somehow slipped by itself into biology and then anatomy, which made me visualize my inner world. A few moments of such thinking and the visualization made me feel nauseous and something inside me beg to come out.

- Behehe, - and something really came out! In front of my nose fell a whole skeleton of a turkey, without a single piece of meat, but with obvious teeth marks, scuff marks all over the surface. That's my metabolism! Toothy like that...

"Nyayah," the cat was not at all surprised by my stuffing, only yawned tiredly into his paw and headed for the exit, mumbling one last time:

- "When you get tired, come to my scent, but don't you dare wake me up, meh!".
