_______________________________________

My name is Ryuji, and if I'm right, this time, I might actually be the protagonist.

When I was born, my mother named me Ryuji because she wanted me to grow up strong and promising. My dad, however, joked about naming me something ridiculous, saying it would bring divine blessings or luck.

In the end, they stuck with Ryuji. Sometimes, I wonder if a different name would have led to a different, more promising life. But after wasting so many years doing nothing noteworthy, here I am—finally in the spotlight.

Why? Because in an act of heroism, I fell from the seventh floor to save a girl I didn't even know.

To be exact—while falling—I was hoping I'd finally get to be remembered as someone worth something. Maybe when the newspapers report it, they'll paint me as a selfless hero.

Oh, and I also hoped that girl would remember me. She was quite beautiful at first glance.

Now, I'm about to hit the ground. Yet, all I can think is, "I really hope my face doesn't end up too smashed."

Sadly, considering I'm falling head-first, that's a bit much to hope for.

---

Wait, something feels... off.

Even though my physics grades were terrible, I know it shouldn't take this long to fall seven stories. But here I am, feeling like I've been falling for an eternity.

My eyelids feel impossibly heavy. I can't open them, no matter how hard I try. Then—splash!

A mouthful of salty, bitter, disgusting water fills my mouth. My first reaction? I've fallen into the ocean!

It feels eerily similar to the time I accidentally fell off a fishing boat years ago. But then my brain snaps back to reality.

Wait... how the hell is there an ocean beneath my apartment?

Before I can figure that out, another realization hits me—the icy water is suffocating me, and I'm completely disoriented. My body feels like it's shutting down.

Right before I pass out, I swear I see a mermaid swimming toward me. Then, darkness overtakes me.

---

"Attention! Attention! Host, your life is under threat."

A cold, mechanical voice rings in my head, cutting through the noise of my chaotic surroundings. There's the whine of horns, the clatter of horses' hooves, gunfire, and some strange whooshing sounds I can't place.

For God's sake, why is it so loud? Let me die in peace!

"Current stimulation will begin in 10 seconds. Countdown: 10, 9..."

What stimulation?!

"...3, 2, 1—0!"

ZAP!

It feels like a lightning bolt hits me.

"GAH! IT HURTS!"

I shoot upright, gasping for air, my body trembling from the shock.

Then, I freeze.

In front of me is an epic battle scene straight out of a movie. My head spins, and I can't help but ask myself the three big questions of life:

Who am I?

Where am I?

What the hell is happening?!

---

"Congratulations, host! You've successfully crossed countless light-years and space barriers to arrive in the Marvel Universe of a parallel reality. As one of the rare chosen individuals, you'll receive the technical support of the [Strongest Talent System]."

Marvel Universe?

I blink, dumbfounded. Then, my gaze drifts toward a familiar figure in the distance—a stunning warrior battling invaders on a beach.

Wait.

"System, are you kidding me? Marvel Universe? Then why the hell is that Wonder Woman?!"

---

Forget the system for a second. Forget any technical nonsense.

What I'm seeing is straight out of Wonder Woman 1—the beach scene on Themyscira, where Amazon warriors in battle armor fight invaders with outdated rifles.

I glance again. Yup, there's no mistaking her—it's Gal Gadot, in all her radiant glory.

Hold on... did I just land on a DC movie set by accident?

I slap myself to check. The pain is real. This isn't a dream.

And the system dares to tell me this is the Marvel Universe? Is it messing with me?

---

"It has been detected that the host's memory contains knowledge of movie universes similar to this world. Analyzing... Analyzing... Preliminary tests show this world aligns 30% with the DC movie universe and 60% with the Marvel movie universe. The remaining 10% is unknown. Therefore, this world is designated as the Marvel Universe."

"Seriously?" I mutter, annoyed. "You're calling it the Marvel Universe just because it's mostly Marvel? What about the other 10%?!"

The system doesn't respond to my question, and honestly, I don't have time to press for answers.

---

"Activate the novice gift pack, host!"

"Gift pack?"

I peer cautiously over the rock I'm hiding behind. On the beach, bullets and arrows fly, soldiers yell, and Amazon warriors fall in battle. This is not a game—this is a war zone.

Swallowing hard, I shrink back behind cover, trying to process everything.

"Fine," I whisper. "Activate the damn gift pack."

"Newbie Gift Pack"

As every gamer knows, the newbie gift package depends entirely on luck. If you're lucky enough, getting a high-tier item isn't out of the question.

In any system-based setup, luck is your currency. And as a protagonist, my luck should be off the charts, right? Or so I hoped.

The current situation, however, was far from ideal. Bullets zipped past, arrows whistled through the air, and even though I was behind a rock, stray projectiles could still ricochet my way.

Seriously, surviving this chaos seemed more pressing than unboxing some "gift package." After all, I'd only just arrived here—dying so soon would be lame.

Judging by the traces in the sand and the dampness of my clothes, someone had dragged me to safety. Considering how I passed out earlier, I suspected the one responsible was likely a certain heroine.

Wait, hold on... did she give me CPR before I blacked out? That lingering softness on my lips sure felt like it.

Oh no. Please don't tell me I'm that guy.

Before I could reflect further on my embarrassing speculations, a futuristic holographic screen appeared before me.

"Slot machine?" I muttered in confusion. "This is the so-called 'newbie gift package'?"

"Please press the host's fingerprint."

"Uh… like this?" I asked, pressing my hand against the flashing pattern on the bottom right.

Instantly, the screen came alive, displaying countless "options" scrolling too quickly to read clearly. It was overwhelming, like a Vegas casino slot machine on overdrive.

I could barely make out words like "mage," "warrior," "paladin," and "assassin" among the blurs. Then the system spoke:

"Based on the host's physique, intelligence, and adaptability, your talent will be selected."

Great. My fate rested on the whims of a digital algorithm.

Moments later, the slot machine stopped. A single word appeared on the screen: "Magic."

"Magic? My talent is magic?" I blinked, processing the revelation.

Sure, magic sounded cool—versatile, powerful, and flashy. I always enjoyed fantasy RPGs and anime centered around spellcasters, so I couldn't really complain.

"Congratulations, host. Your talent classification is 'generalized magic.'"

"Generalized?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, host. While 99% of individuals receive a 'narrow' talent—such as fire or ice magic—you are among the rare 1% with a 'broad' talent. This allows you to learn all types of magic."

Damn. I wasn't just any mage—I was a universal mage! Protagonist perks for the win.

Suddenly, the screen lit up again, this time displaying a list of familiar worlds. Each one corresponded to a popular series, like:

"World of Warcraft" - "Fairy Tail" - "Harry Potter" - "Lord of the Rings" - "One Piece"

Even One Piece made the cut. Did Devil Fruits count as magic now?

After rapidly scrolling, the cursor finally stopped on: "Fairy Tail."

"Fairy Tail?" I muttered, slightly disappointed. Sure, it was one of the big four manga series, but it wasn't my top pick. Still, ancient lost magic sounded promising.

Next came a card-based interface showcasing characters from Fairy Tail, ranging from D-rank to SS-rank. The system explained:

"Host's abilities will correspond to the chosen character card."

Ah, so whatever magic the character knows, I would automatically learn.

The cursor started spinning again, passing over familiar faces like Natsu, Gray, and Erza. My heart raced as it slowed near my favorite characters.

"Minerva?" I whispered excitedly as the cursor hovered over her card. Her mastery of advanced spatial magic was insanely overpowered.

But no. The cursor moved past her.

"Jellal!" I exclaimed next, my hopes reigniting. Jellal's magic was god-tier in the Fairy Tail world. Yet again, the cursor skipped.

I groaned as it passed character after character, eventually landing on—

"Freed Justine, S-Class Mage of the Thunder God Tribe."

"Wait, what?!" I shouted, staring at the screen.

Sure, Freed's abilities were nothing to scoff at. His enchantment magic could create powerful barriers and complex runes, and he was even capable of rewriting reality to an extent.

But compared to Natsu or Erza, his presence in the series was… underwhelming.

"Host, congratulations on obtaining an S-Class orange card."

I sighed, reluctantly accepting my fate. At least I wasn't stuck with a D-rank card.

Still, this was just the beginning. If Freed's abilities were my starting point, I could only imagine what I'd unlock down the road.

For now, I had to survive this chaotic battlefield and figure out what the hell was going on in this Marvel-DC mashup universe.
