Chapter 49: Race, Infinity war Saga I
Maui, Hawaii.

Within a small training room, a figure was strong cross legged, while bluish lightning flashed across his body.
He was half naked, and his hands which were bandaged were slowly lifted up. Soon, tendrils of lightning began streaked across his palm. Slowly, the lightning began to condense and shape itself into what looked like a small dagger.
However, right on the cusp of breakthrough, the lightning disappeared. The young man let out a sigh and opened his eyes, before he stood up.
Walking to a punching bag before him, he got into a stance. In a split second, his body blurred and shot forward, as he unleashed multiple punches and kicks unto the bag all within the split second.
The punching bag burst open and was sent flying a few meters away.
Sighing, he picked up a towel and began to wipe his body of the sweat, before he walked away.

After taking a bath, Duke walked to the kitchen to see Nat preparing breakfast, while humming and dancing to a pop song. He stood by the door and watched her with a smile.
Love worked in mysterious ways. He never thought for a single moment he would be able to fall in love with someone someday, hell, he didn't even know what romantic love even was.
As for when he realized her loved her? Even he didn't know, but ever since the day he had saved her from the Hulk on the Helicarrier, he developed this strange attraction towards her which he couldn't explain.
It became more evident when he came back from Earth-616 and heard she was captured.
At that point, the only thing he felt was pure unbridled rage. He didn't understand why he felt that way, until he saved her, and she kissed him.
"Someone's in a happy mood." He smiled and walked in before embracing her from behind.
She turned around and kissed him passionately which he responded fiercely. "I love you." She said, while she folded the strands of hair on his forehead around his ear.
"Why do you love me?" He asked which made her smile, as she pecked him on the lips and neck.
"You're my hero." She replied, as Duke let out a smile and kissed her passionately. He immediately carried her up to the bedroom, for another session of love making, accompanied by loud moans and grunts.

"Ding Dong!" After a few rounds of sex, Duke was sitting alone in the couch, when the bell rang. He immediately sighed and walked to the door and opened it.
"Hi." He saw Pietro standing there with a smile and a small gift basket. "Hey. What are you doing here?" Duke asked, and gestured for him to come in and closed the door.
"I never uhh got the chance to thank you for saving my life back then. You really inspired me to get faster as well." Pietro said and handed Duke the gift basket containing boxes of chocolates and cake, which he accepted readily and began feasting with a smile.
"No need to mention it buddy." Duke smiled and said. "Anyway, I thought you, Cap and the others were now...." Duke said, but didn't finish his statement.
"Yeah. I decided to come visit you by myself. I have a reason." He smiled and said.
"I see. So what is it?" Duke asked. " I want a race." He said bluntly, as Duke roared an eyebrow.
"I've gotten faster over the past years and I have no one to measure it against. Except you." He continued. "How fast are you now?" Duke asked with his hands on his chin.
"Uhhh about Mach 118." He replied and facepalmed. "I know you're way faster than I am, but I just want to race you once." He said with a desperate look, as Duke sighed.
"Fine. But just this once." Duke nodded, before his body turned into a lightning streak and disappeared. The next moment, he came back wearing black sneakers, a black and white sweatsuit.

Both of them stood on an abandoned road while Duke stretched his legs. "So where are we going?" Duke asked while he stretched his back and yawned. "Uhhh how about the Pacific?" Pietro cracked his knuckles and said, as Duke nodded.
Duke then took out a small firecracker, snapped his fingers which caused a sparks to erupt, as the firecracker lit up and tossed it to the ground. The next moment, both of them, bent their legs, as the air began to vibrate.
Lightning began to streak across Duke's body, as sparks flew everywhere, while Pietro's eyes turned fierce, his body vibrating at unnatural speeds.
"Pa!!!" "Booommm!!!" The next second, the firecracker set off, as both of them blasted forward, leaving behind streaks of lightning and sonic booms.

Australia...
The hot midday sun hung in the clear blue sky. The citizens were going about their normal activities, each minding his own, as the hours went by swiftly.
Suddenly, the next moment, two figures, one wrapped in lightning bolts, leaving behind streaks of lightning wherever he passed and another leaving a bluish white trail zoomed through the city at hypersonic speeds, and disappeared into the horizon a few moments later.

Beijing, China.
The Great Wall of China was a beautiful structure, with its meandering walls running through the province like a large python.
Suddenly, a figure clad in blue lightning mysteriously appeared out of nowhere and blasted forth at hypersonic speed. A few moments after the lightning streak vanished, another figure chased at hypersonic speed, leaving a bluish white trail.

'Shit! He's too fast!!' Pietro thought to himself, as he saw Duke's figure rapidly disappear into the horizon. At this point, his breathing was labored, and his legs began to feel heavy. Even so, he persevered and chased after his trail. He could lose, but at least, he had to get to the destination.
After a few seconds of running, he finally got to the shores of the Pacific and instantly collapsed to the floor in exhaustion. Raising his head, he saw Duke calmly standing by the shores with his hands behind him and a small smile on his face, as he peered at the sun.

..New Asgard..
Within a half destroyed massive spaceship floating within the expanse of the void, a tall purple skinned figure in armor wearing a gauntlet stood tall, with his large blade in his hand.
Around him, littered corpses numbering in the hundreds. Corpses belonging to children, mothers and fathers, were disembodied by him. Behind him stood four alien figures stood humbly with their eyes filled with reverence as they stared at the tall figure before them.
Before him, a blonde and bloodied one eyed figure was trapped in a round metallic shell, with anger and regret written all over his face.
"That bastard, Odin. He suppressed me for so long. If it wasn't for him, this universe would've probably achieved perfection. To honor his memory, I've sent his beloved Asgardians to be with him..." The figure chuckled.
"My children. There are three infinity stones on earth. Retrieve them for me." He spoke, while looking at the glowing purple gem on his gauntlet.
"Yes father." The four figures bowed respectfully. "If you're going to earth, then you might need a guide." Suddenly, a voice sounded out, as a handicapped figure clad in green and black robes walked out with an amicable smile.
"You...." The purple skinned figure glared at the newcomer who surprisingly was handicapped, with his left arm missing entirely.
"I have experience in traveling to earth. They love me." The green robes figure smiled and said. "You call failure experience?" The purple skinned figure asked. "I call experience, experience." He replied.
"Lord Thanos. I, Loki, Prince of Asgard, Odinson, Heir to the throne of Jotunheim" He walked slowly to the purple skinned figure while a dagger stealthily materialized behind him.
"God of mischief. I offer you my undying allegiance." He said and bowed slightly, however the next second, he pierced his dagger forward. "Bang!" A purple energy wave burst out which sent him flying the next second. "Undying?" The purple skinned figure, Thanos, the mad Titan, chuckled and walked forward, as Thor, the one eyed bloodied figure looked on in horror. "You should choose your words more carefully." Thanos spoke, grabbed Loki by the neck and ripped it off his shoulders, causing blood to spray all over the body of the God of Thunder.
Thor roared, but the metal covering his mouth stifled his scream, with tears rolling down his cheeks.
"It is time." Thanos said, before he tore through the ship to the outside, only to see a huge ship with opened doors awaiting their return. He and his children instantly jumped into their ship which disappeared into the horizon.
The next second, the Asgardian ship exploded, hurling debris, ashes and metals through the expanse of space.
