Chapter 1: Want To Know......?
" who's there? Olivia tried to find out who might possibly be in her father's workshop. Her deer shaped eyes moved from one side of the dark room to another, being the youngest daughter of the Madison family, Olivia sincerely wanted to go out on an errand for her family, the whole house was dark so the family needed the only lantern, they had for vision....
Being too curious even after hearing something fall in the dark room, Olivia still entered the workshop to get the lantern.
She had turn 18 that day and her family held a little celebration for her in their small house, the light generated for the town went off all of a sudden, making their celebration come to a quick end. Andrea frowned upon her mother trying to coax her so that she would go and get their only source of light from her father's workshop.
" I'll go mother! Was a quick voice from the birthday girl.
"..."
The was silent and Olivia could only poute her lips, were they going to actually treat her like a child forever, she's 18 for goodness sake! She shouted inwardly. Her father narrowed his eyes slightly, he didn't want his little girl go out in the dark.....it was just too dangerous for a girl like her, so innocent and harmless. He would have gone for it himself if he wasn't tired after a long day at work, the girl was not going to take a no! From her parents hence, they just gave in and she smiled widely before she happily jumped out of the house. Her steps where quick as she walked her way to the workshop, not looking back at anything and she just hopped like a little child being told to get a gift bag from her mother's bag.
" Are you a thief? She shouted again," do you need help, my family would help you? She said still straining her neck to check the room. No response came and when she made her mind to walk into the workshop, she almost jumped out to the ground when a black big cat run pass her. 'It's just a cat' she breath out and cleaned the sweat on her forehead with the back of her hand, she laughed inwardly at her self, he was such a scared rat! And mad her way into the room. It took time for her eyes to adjust to the darkness of the room and her eyes lightened when she saw the glassy reflect of the lantern and her hands went to grab it and concentrated on how to switch it on when she heard a growl right behind her and her body stiffened. How scared was she when the cat jumped out of the shop, now she was terrified. Her hands shaked not knowing what to do at the moment, was someone in her father's workshop! Almost loosing her grib on the lantern, she became more convinced that she was not the only person in the shop when the cold breath of the person fell on her shoulders.
Her fingers finding their way to switch on the lantern and this action made the growling more loud, the sweat formed at her back drove down her spine. She could feel the cold breath of the person right behind her and that made her shiver at the same time, her frozen feet's broke through with her curiousity getting the better of her, turning around with her still praying it was her brother who just loved playing pranks with her, her eyes widened with what she saw....
That was no joke! The lantern fell from her hand and for some odd reasons, the light was still on even though it was broken. She staggered backwards and her back hit the table from which she took the lantern, her wide eyes still looking at the creature. Creature because she didn't know what to call it... what she saw, a corpse- like creature! Almost dead or she could say dead walking and didn't look happy to see her in the shop. It started moving forward and that gave her the signal that she was in deep deep trouble, she turned and started to run from there alarming the creature to case after her.....
Chapter 2: Creatures Of The Night... Part 1
A land of morals!
At least that was what they thought the land was filled with until, knowledge hit them that they were not alone.unharmful beings like human were better of without anything special to sustain in the land, unlike the others who would either kill to feed..... humans only needed real food, water, shelter and what else? That y'all know.
Old Devlot.....a land once filled with only humans,was now mixed with other creatures of the night. It all started when the king of the underworld went into a deep sleep for ages, leaving his minions roaming free in the living realm.
The humans became aware of certain creatures like the vampires, the looked different compared to them. A pair of red eyes should tell a well sane human to run from sight, at least that was what they used to do. Parents made their children wary of these blood suckers. The land has being long ruled by the 'Great Morgan Empire' was a huge family made up of full vampires by birth, their history showing where they truly originated. Coming straight from the first roaming vampire from the underworld,it was said that he fell for a beautiful maiden of the land, not knowing anything about the man her family refused to give their daughter to him. Anger filled him to the neck that he murdered her whole family in cold blood, making everyone aware of him and the kind of power he possessed, he was not ordinary at all that, the love of his life was aware, but she didn't know what to call him.....he looked so real, so human. He bit her and turned her that way she was somewhat like him and no one would take her away from him, she couldn't remember what she used to be in the past not did she remember how her beloved killed her entire family. The fear of him vanished from her eyes and only love flourished between them, the first human to be turned into a vampire had all the qualities of a correct vampire. She gave birth and her children multiplied in her family, the urge to turn others also made her taste a lot of different kinds of bloods. The pain of loosing everything including the love of her life to some different creature made her want power so that she could seek revenge, she created a strong empire made up of strong well trained vampires to take over the land. During one of her fights against other creatures cost her life to win, without the humans knowing that other creatures existed.
In the line of leadership, according to the Morgans, the strongest person of the family with all the qualities of a great leader was to be king of the land filled with humans, since they were the only strong and powerful people found in the land. The humans hide behind not wanting any harm to before them of speaking against the vampires and the past Kings were not bad to them they had protected them for centuries and provided them with everything they needed in the land all they had to do was to keep quiet and let those with strength and power lead them.
Oasis Morgan, became the next great king of Devlot because he was born different from the other vampires in his family. His mother was taken by an unknown man when she was just in her young age, because of that no man wanted to take her as a wife. She tried killing herself and her unborn child to escape from society and bad naming but her child was saved, she passed away just after having the child her vampire body couldn't fight the strange poison she took in. He grew up looking like a vampire like the others but his strength was nothing seen before, he was just like their ancestor, his eyes darker than the rest and he didn't only rely on blood but also on souls, the empire wanted him to be full time vampire but it was not possible.
He was trained well to rule the land and protect it's people, he had other plans in mind, he wanted to rule a kingdom not a mere land filled with humans and vampires. He wanted to know what kind he really was, he was certain that there were other creatures or someone there to help him understand the newly found abilities apart from the vampire one. He fought wars and defeated lots of land and broadened his land within some decades, while he filled the land with other strong vampires and even witches who would help him in protecting the land, he made alliances with other kingdoms and most Kings even though becoming his friend,they were scared of him because of what they heard about him. He made Devlot a mighty kingdom ever heard of that people from far came to trade and to see the great things he had done in the land. It became a great land to trade on and was filled with riches, people had a lot from making businesses with the traders in the land that the people were well lived without needing much from the king. The land was well built with social amenities and tall buildings in the urban areas of the land, the king didn't forget the rural areas though.
After all these achievements, his people and even his family elders wanted him to get married. He had paid no heed to them but until he found her following close to someone he concluded was her mother, he stood up from his seat trying to tail her in the midst of the crowd gathered to witness the public beheading of some people who went against the royal family and tried to steal from the king. Her white long hair cascaded at her petite back as she followed suit, the king could smell her from where he stood, a mixed scent of roses and rosemary with the faint scent of fresh snow. This brought a smile on the king's face and he was forced to move forward to get hold of the girl following her mother, the people had a confused expression on their faces, where was their king going. Still keeping his Sharp dark red eyes on the girl like his prey, he could hear his knights following him closely not wanting any harm to befall their king. The whole place became quiet and they gave way for the king to pass through, as if being tracked upon the girl turned to the direction which she felt the gaze from and was shocked a pair of dark red eyes were looking at her, her round eyes widened in shock and she didn't even realize when her mother met an acquaintance in the crowd.
"Esther, dear! She heard her mother call her when the old lady realized her child was lost in the conversation, she checked if she was okay before they turned to the man in front of them. His red eyes scanned the girl properly before he gave her charming smile that made her shy away and hide behind her mother's arm.
"Have you been well, lady Esther?"
He asked her and she replied politely without raising her head to meet his red eyes, she blushed even more, this people had no idea that there was a pair of eyes were looking straight at them with anger filled in them. The approach of the Duke made the king hault in his steps, his right hand man was quick to tell who the Duke was and his business dealings in the land.
"A young Duke, huh?"
He brought those words out of his thin pale lips and his knights felt the kind of intentions the king had. He still did not move and observed them a little more, his nails dagged deep into his palms and faint blood drew from it as he looked at how the Duke got the old lady to give him the girl. From the look of things if Mr. Maslow didn't take the king away from that spot, he would pounce on the little Duke, Esther walked side of the tall vampire Duke and she kept smiling to her self. People looked at her not only because of her white hair but also at the thought that she walked with a noble vampire, the what ifs that people think. She stripped over the muddy ground and before she could land face first on the ground, Duke Aalan was quick to grab her delicate arm to pull her back to his embrace with his other hand on her waist and her hands rested on his chest. She quickly moved her herself from that position, with face beet red, she didn't know what to do and her hands shook. Aalan chuckled at her childish behavior, she was so pure that he didn't know why that was so. She was of age to be betrothed yet she knew nothing, she didn't even noticed that he liked her and wanted to be with her, she still kept her distance which sometimes made his blood boil. How he wanted to hold her and kiss her and tell how much he loved her, " are you okay, did you get hurt-" he didn't finish when she spoke,"am fine Duke Aalan, my mistake....I didn't check my steps" before she realized she cut him short and she bowed to apologise. He admired her even more, he opened his hand towards her, he wanted to take her hand and lead her. She stared at him with wide eyes, how would she walk now that her hands would be in his, no way!
As she was about to place her hand in his since it was rude to keep a gentleman hanging, but a strong rough hand held her arm in mid air. She raised her head to see three gentle men standing behind her, two dressed like guards each having the royal seal as their crest, while the other man dressed differently as compared to the guards,he was in noble matching clothes and his serious red eyes made her swallow.
Aalan was not having any of this, he tried moving forward to stop them from touching the girl, the other guard pulled out his sharp sword and pointed it straight at him. The man in noble clothes spoke, " his highness, the king of Devlot has sent for the lady!" The man didn't batt an eye as he spoke, Esther stood frozed. 'Why would the king, wait! The great king of Devlot is here? And he sent for me?' she spoke inwardly before she looked at Aalan, she knew the Duke could not help her, from the looks of things these people meant business.
"That will be over my dead body! She heard Aalan speak his tone filled with anger. She never knew that part of him,as he easily turned the arm of the guard holding the sword to his throat and he screamed in pain. Aalan was surprised to see that the rest didn't move from their spot, he raised his head to see a line of guards holding their side were their swords had been secured, readying to kill.
"The king wants to have a word with the lady, trust me you wouldn't like how this would end, Duke Aalan? Maslow spoke with a raised brow.
