Chapter 53: Lilian's past explained

Allen chuckled as Lilian's lips met his, pleasantly surprised that she showed no shyness around his family. He kissed her back, enjoying the brief moment.

"That was nice," he said, smiling at her as she pulled away. Lilian returned the smile and straightened up to acknowledge those in the ward, bowing slightly to Allen's parents.

"It's a pleasure to meet you," she said warmly, and they responded with bright smiles.

"Welcome anytime for dinner, dear," Allen's mother said, her eyes sparkling. "You're part of the Rowan family now."

"I'd love that," Lilian replied, glancing at Allen.

He added, "She'll come as soon as I'm well enough. I'll be the one to bring her home."

Francis smiled at Allen's words, his expression brighter than it had been in a while. "It's great to see you so happy, son."

"I think I've finally found someone special," Allen admitted, a hint of pride in his voice.
