"The Caster needs to concentrate on a single very happy Memory, no matter if the Memory is real or not. Only the feeling of happiness matters." He read out loud, "Fuuuck! I could just imagine a memory. Sometimes I am just plainly blind." complained Matthew.
Matthew closed his eyes and imagined a future where he was free of all control, he lived happily with his family, friends, and even wives. He had a few Children. Nobody could harm them, because he stood at the peak. He was truly free and unbound. A strong imagined memory where all his goals were fulfilled, just thinking about it made his whole body feel happiness.
"EXPECTO PATRONUM!" he yelled while aiming with his outstretched hand. A bright white mist-like light formed out of his finger. It took the shape of a bright silver, translucent animal. A glowing bird formed before him. As it completely formed he recognized it as a crow, a three-legged crow to be precise. " So my Patronus took on the form of Yatagarasu from the Japanese mythology or the sun Crow Yangwu from the Chinese one. Not bad for the reflection of my innermost personality. I wonder if my Animagus transformation would be the same. Well no matter what at least it seems special.", he muttered as he observed the Patronus.
Now that he could cast the Patronus Charm he should be able to explore the next part of the ruins on Saturday. Hopefully, there will be something of worth, to give him an advantage in the future. For the rest of the week, he made sure he mastered the Patronus Charm. He could maintain it for 32 minutes while his echolocation-based minimap was activated, without troubles he also figured out the message function of the charm.
He also let the AI Chip analyze the Patronus Charm and its workings so he may develop some spells in the future harmful to dementors and other dark creatures. He also tried to let the Chip analyze the unknown rune language, but it failed since he hadn't enough data at the moment to comprehend it without experimenting. And Experiments were at the moment too Dangerous since it could easily blow up, especially since it was a powerful rune system, which could alarm the people in the Castle.
~ Scene Break ~
On Friday he just held a study session with Cho alone. They used one of the many empty classrooms inside the Castle. He spent the afternoon teaching her a few simple charms, which they still only learned in the higher years. Among them were the disarming Charm, the shield charm 'Protego', and the low-level shield charm. He also tried to show her how to cast spells wandless, but she wasn't able to even cast the simplest ones. But he still recommended she keep trying it would help her to control her magic in the future. After their training session, they left for dinner, afterwards, he spent the rest of the day with his roommates.
On Saturday morning he woke up early in the morning. After his morning business, he left for the Kitchen where he got some food, water, and especially chocolate from the giddy house-elves. As he completed his preparations he left the castle in secret for the forest again.
On the Outskirts of the forbidden forest, he directly headed for the ruins of Raczidians former black Castle. He needed over an hour to reach the dark clearing where the ruins were located. He only needed to take out one Acromantula on his way. After making sure there were no living things in the area, especially centaurs. He approached the entrance with the runic mechanisms, which led into the underground laboratory.
The entrance opened without trouble, just like last week. After consuming a Night-Owl Potion he entered the staircase to the dark rooms downstairs. Everything was unchanged, as he arrived at the bottom corridor. He approached the large black door. After readying himself, Matthew touched the rune cluster at the center of the Doors and they instantly started to open up.
"Expecto Patronum!" he yelled out, as he felt the cold chilling aura of hundreds of Dementors. Every bit of good emotion began to fade until his silver-white bright glowing three-legged crow Patronus appeared. It repelled the chilling aura of the hundreds of dementors. He passed through the doors and closed them after locating the rune cluster on the other side.
There was a large and dark hall, with hundreds of dementors surrounding him. Only his Patronus kept them in the bay. 'Maybe they are here as guardians. Actually a good safety measure for dark Wizards, since the darkest of them don't seem to be affected by dementors. Only Wizards who could cast a sufficient strong Patronus could pass through here. I need to hurry since I can't keep it indefinitely He mused while observing the hall.
At the far end of the hall, he made out another large black door. He carefully while watching out for other traps passed through the hall. The dementors kept their distance on the far ends of the hall. As far away from his Patronus as possible. The AI Chip kept recording the effects of the Patronus charm on the Dementors. The data may become useful in the future.
As he arrived at the door, he activated the rune cluster at the center and observed the other side as the door opened up. On the other side, he could make out a few bookshelves, and a pedestal with a scroll on it. But no dementors, or traps. He quickly entered the Library and closed the door behind him. As the door closed and the runic barrier reactivated, the aura of the dementors also disappeared.
Matthew stopped his Patronus charm and observed the new room. There were four bookshelves on either side. They were glowing under stasis and preservation charms, which luckily kept the books alive over the years. But most interesting was the pedestal in the center of the room, where a Scroll was placed. There was no glow of Stasis charms or anything on it, but the scroll looked as new without any traces of time.
He first studied the bookshelves, they were written in elder futhark, some in old Latin. So this library was at least 1500 Years old. With the help of the AI Chip he had no problem reading them, he just used the automatic translation function of the Chip, so he didn't even need to concentrate on understanding them and just focused on their contents. There where a collection of different magic books, historical records, and even the personal records of Raczidian. He started with them, although the magic books were also interesting since they covered many topics that were outlawed today like rituals, blood magic, different dark curses, potions, and even some records on druidic nature magic.
But Matthew first wanted to know the details of the Ruins and especially the ominous scroll. He didn't plan to return here for the moment and wanted to gather everything of Value. After completely reading through the dark Wizards personal records, which were only 4 books. He finally understood how the Dementors were here and a few details about that Scroll. The Scroll is supposedly one of many that belong to a legendary book called The Book of the Damned or The Book of Sin.
