Chapter 3: Marriage
The sun rose and it was the day Samantha was to be married to Asher but the time set for their marriage was after sunset. She dressed simply mainly because she was uninterested in the marriage. Asher also came to the Civil Affairs Bureau. Both of them were standing in front of the gate that evening. Both of them were silent. There is an awkward atmosphere surrounding them. Samantha broke the awkwardness by saying, "Hi, Asher" but the other party doesn't seem to appreciate it. Asher thought to himself that Samantha was trying to seduce him. He doesn't answer her and the awkwardness between them increased more. Asher, after the marriage registration, warned Samantha, "Let me be clear. After we marry, we go on our separate ways. I can provide you with a place to stay. You won't interfere with my work and I will have nothing to do with you."
Samantha did not expect Asher to be so straightforward and say what she exactly wanted. She thought to herself how narcissistic Asher was and said, "Alright, I accept your condition." with a little smile on her face which looked like a smirk. She thought that was weird as she was supposed to say those lines. She thought maybe he wasn't actually so bad as everyone described him.
Samantha thought to herself that she never decides a person's character by his family background and thought to observe him first. Samantha got to know that Asher never had a good relationship with his family. She thought he might not be as cunning and selfish as his father was.
While Asher was not thinking what Samantha was thinking. He was suspicious of Samantha who had accepted his condition without thinking about it even for a minute. He still thinks that Samantha is a spy who was planted in his house by his old foxy father to take all his wealth and belongings.
Asher is the CEO of Nyle Groups, one of the biggest companies in the country. The Hall family is the first greatest family of the five greatest families in the country. He chased his father out of his house when he got the authority and power to do so. He alone with the help of his cousin and best friend expanded the Nyle Groups which is now internationally renowned.
The five Great families of the county were the Hall, the Smith, the Wright, the Duncan and the Millers in sequence. The Hall and the Smith families have a greater influence than the other three families in the country. They even have the power to manipulate the law but they never did that.
Asher and Samantha buckled up and Samantha was taken to Asher's house. There was a tradition, more like a rule for generations that the wife of the Hall family must stay with her husband in her husband's house. Both of them were now in front of the grand door of the Hall Mansion. The Entrance door itself showed how
beautiful the house is supposed to be. It was engraved with magnificent carvings and perfectly polished.
The door was opened, and a red carpet was set in the hallway. All the maids stood in a line in a disciplined manner the butler standing on one of the sides and bowing. All the maids were bowing elegantly as a sign of respect for their master. As they went through the hallway, the butler looked at Asher and greeted him with a smile, "Have you a good day Master? Congratulations on your marriage." He then looked at Samantha, his face was still smiling but somewhere there was an enormous amount of hostility towards her. Samantha noticed it too. The butler greeted Samantha with his forced smile, "Good day Madam. Welcome to the Hall Mansion. I'm the butler here. You can call me Sean." Samantha also smiled and said, "Good to know you butler Sean." Butler Sean had formal attire. He had his spectacles on his brown eyes with his black hair fluttering on his face. H looked a little older than Asher but could be the fantasy of many women.
Asher then coughed a little and looked at Sean as a sign of indication of something and said, "I'll be going to my room. Send me the dinner to my room." Sean replied, "Yes Master. I'll ask the maids to send you the food." After hearing Sean's reply Asher went to his room leaving Samantha all alone in the hallway. Sean turned towards Samantha and said, "Madam, won't you go to the room?" He purposely emphasized the word 'the room', not just your or Master's room. Asher asked Sean to test Samantha whether she will be going to Asher's room or would ask for a room for her.
Samantha, for his question, asked, "Where is the room prepared for me?" Sean asked, "Why would you have such a doubt, Madam?" Samantha replied, "I know that all the people here are wary of me but let me be clear that I have no intention of sharing a room with your Master henceforth, lead me to my room." Sean was embarrassed he apologised, "If I offended you in any manner, I apologise. There is a room prepared for you upstairs on the third floor. The maids will lead you to your room." Samantha replied, "Thank you." Samantha went to the third floor with her luggage carried by the maid. She was looking around the house and found it not so interesting as compared to the door. She could see chandeliers hanging from the ceiling but the walls were plain, not even a photo or a painting was kept on the walls.
Samantha reached her room. To her surprise, the room was not so well decorated but she liked the layout of the room and said, "Thanks for leading me here. You can go rest. I'll do the unpacking." The maid nodded and said, "Madam, do you wish to have dinner here or in the dining hall?" Samantha replied, "It's fine. I'll have it here. I have some work to do." The maid nodded and went back.
