Chapter 23: It's A Field Trip

Three days later, on a glorious chilly evening after a day of broken air-con and sweaty teenagers, Nate picked her up for their first field trip.

"You didn't think of informing me before you came here?" Keira grumbled as she shoved her sweater vest inside her satchel, then tied her hair back into a messy bun – and was still careful of leaving some bangs to cover her right eye.

"But you don't have any plans this evening, do you?"

"Well, I don't, but–"

"Is that your way of asking me for my number, Ms Hawkins?" Nate placed his hands on the table between them, angling his body towards her.

"Ha. Ha. You wish."

A grin bloomed on his annoyingly handsome face. "I already put my number on your phone."

Blinking confusedly, she took her phone out of her pocket. It took several clicks of her thumb, and she scrolled down the saved numbers before finding the suspicious contact.
