The airship soared through the sky once more, flying through the desert for days, searching for a lonely tower in the middle of the sand. Easy, right?
During the trip, Madara kept writing many different books about many subjects he learned from his previous world that he thought would also apply to this world, and one was the basics of chemistry, another was the basics of physics and math, a third one was a book that he wrote that contained information about all languages available in both human and spirit world.
It took him a little over two weeks to finish his job, and his first works didn't have much in-depth information because he dropped out of school very early on, but he believed that his knowledge would still be valid.
The language book was what he was counting on to get on Wan Shi Tong's good side, but he wrote another one that he hoped he wouldn't need to give. But regardless of that, he wrote it. It's always better to be prepared.
After a month of not finding anything, Kaliya finally spotted the supposed tower with her spyglass, and Lei being the good housewife he was, turned and flew towards it.
"Jackie, this time only me and Kaliya will go down. I will need you here to keep driving the Airship" Madara had the memories of Appa being kidnapped when team Avatar entered this place. He won't be risking it.
"As you wish, Mr. Uchiha. Where should I take it?" said Lei.
"Anywhere you prefer, a hidden location where the airship will be secure but don't leave it there, stay inside with the engine always on. We have more than enough fuel to keep this going for a long time. I want you to stay hidden until nightfall. Then you fly back here to scout the place. If we are out, I will light a fire so you can spot us. If you see nothing, fly back to the hideout, avoid leaving the hideout during the day, we don't want you to be tracked."
"Will do as commanded, Mr. Uchiha. You take care of yourself down there," said Lei.
Madara nodded and walked towards the hatch with Kaliya.
"It seems Jackie doesn't like me," said the woman pretending to be hurt. "Not even wishing the best for me too!" She concluded while chuckling.
Lei decided to ignore her remark, but his eyebrow twitched in annoyance.
"Lower our altitude Jackie, don't land. We will be jumping down."
Jackied nodded and piloted the airship until it reached roughly 10 feet from the sand and gave the signal.
Opening the hatch, Kaliya and Madara just jumped. While falling, Kaliya used her waterbending to create a whip of water and wrap around the hatch knob, landing gently on the ground.
Madara, on the other hand, ignited flames from his feet and glided down without any issues.
Waving his hand to the Airship, Madara turned away and walked towards the Tower with Kaliya.
Lei, who saw the sign, piloted the airship and left, disappearing on the horizon.
"Remember Kaliya, when we meet the spirit inside you need to be gentle with them, they can have quite the temper. Also, you will be offering this to them, Wan Shi Tong collects information, so we need to show proper respect." Said Madara while handing the Physics and Math book to her, keeping the Chemistry for himself.
"Alright, ye don't have to worry, we Northern Tribesmen are the most attuned to the spirits." Said Kaliya.
"Oh, don't go counting on that, Tui and La are gentle spirits... our friend down there won't be like that."
"H-how did ye… " sigh "Ye know what, I give up on trying figuring ye out."
Madara chuckled "Hehe, well.. girls like mysterious guys, don't they?"
Raising one eyebrow "What the… ye alright boss? This is the first time I've ever heard ye talking about stuff like that…"
Madara stopped in his tracks and his eyes widened "Oh… FUCK…" he let out a massive sigh and started walking towards the tower again while massaging his forehead 'GREAT, I WILL HAVE TO ENDURE FUCKING PUBERTY ALL OVER AGAIN! FUCK YOU, VOICE!'
With their bendings and skills they had no issue in climbing to the entrance, Madara tied a rope so Kaliya could go down safely "Meet you downstairs" he said before jumping excitedly into the darkness.
Kaliya sighed "Damn this man, he seems more excited about the smallest things since he came back from that town…" she smiled 'although… I prefer him this way' then she slowly climbed down with the aid of the rope.
Landing several feet below, the duo walked through the dark and dusty tunnels, Madara ignited a torch with his firebending on their way, they came prepared after all.
"Hmmm….. what do ….we have here…. Humans?" Said a rather soft-spoken voice, one would mistake the source of it for a gentleman if it wasn't for the creepy reverberation that came with it.
Looking up the duo saw a massive black owl with a white face and big black eyes that stared at them with curiosity.
"You must be Wan Shi Tong, the owner of this place," said Madara.
"Interesting…. You know about me… but I don't know about you…." Said the owl "Which is incredibly…. Strange…. Considering..... that I feel..... a spirit when I..... look at you…."
Raising an eyebrow Madara replied "Oh, you feel it? Good to know that other spirits can do that." He didn't mind, it's not like he was trying to keep it a secret after the whole swamp battle.
"Not only that…. But your face…. I haven't seen your face…." Said the owl, staring curiously at Madara.
"We never met, so obviously you wouldn't know my face..." said Madara with a drop of sweat coming down his forehead 'ohhh shit, I forgot to consider that detail… fuck…'
"Hmmm…. You are not wrong…. But a face like yours…. Unseen…. Will attract quite a bit of trouble in the future… young… hm…. Avatar?" asked the owl seriously confused.
This time Kaliya couldn't help but interfere "Wait…Wait.. Wait… Hold on for a minute, YE THE FUCKING AVATAR?!" she yelled at Madara, who had to cover his ears due to how loud she was.
"No, I'm not the Avatar, I have nothing to do with the Avatar." He said while shaking his head.
"Hmmm… You speak correctly….. You are not the Avatar…. But still…. You feel like one…. Is it because of the spirit.... inside you?"
"Wait, ye have a spirit inside you?! Why did no one ever tell me this?!" Kaliya was literally losing it.
Sighing "Kaliya we will talk about it after our introductions, it's rather rude to keep the owner of this place waiting when we are their guests."
The owl's face tilted to the side "You are a weird human…. Very humble…. But at the same time.... not humble at all…."
Shrugging, Madara replied, "Well I believe a lot of people think that I'm weird at this point, if you have a problem with that, I'm afraid that you will have to join the queue, Mr. Wan Shi Tong."
The owl laughed "Ha.ha.ha.ha.ha….. You are indeed… a very …. Interesting… human."
Madara rolled his eyes "Lost the count of how many times I've heard that."
The Owl was rather amused by Madara's casual behavior.
"So….. you came here …. For knowledge…. I presume."
Madara nodded and sent a signal to Kaliya, both of them presented their basic knowledge books to Wan Shi Tong.
"These are full of some knowledge about how the human world works, not about society or people, but about the world itself, among some other interesting stuff that can be found inside."
The owl took the books and quickly saw through them. "Most… intriguing…. These theories… these numbers…. Hmmmmm…. Not bad at all…."
"Wan Shi Tong, we are looking for some books and I hope that you can help us find them."
"Oh….. what… do you…. Seek?"
"For my companion here, I would like a complete collection of all bending styles, Northern, Southern, Foggy Swamp… and even Blood Bending."
Kaliya was shocked "Blood bending? Is that a thing?!"
Madara nodded "It's a very difficult thing to learn, and the requirements are very high, but I believe it to be one of the strongest bending techniques in the world."
The owl was also surprised "You know….a lot…. " Wan Shi Tong turned to Kaliya and spoke.
"Follow the …. Blinking…. Green lanterns… it will take you…. There."
Kaliya nodded but didn't move, she was waiting for Madara, she wouldn't leave her boss alone with a weird and rather unpredictable spirit.
"You can go ahead Kaliya, I will be right behind you, you don't have to worry about me. Enjoy every second of it, there's no source of knowledge better than this place in this whole world."
She nodded and followed his command, disappearing after crossing the passage.
"What about….. you…?"
"Combustion bending, Chi breathing techniques, Lightning Bending and the best fighting styles… and if you can… Energy Bending."
Wan Shi Tong was in silence for a long while "You…. Have some dangerous…. Knowledge… about this…. World…. Energy… Bending… is not meant…. To be known to … humans.."
Madara said nothing "I take it you won't allow me to read about it then."
The owl nodded "You are …. Indeed correct."
Sighing Madara pulled one final book from his backpack "If you let me read all about energy bending, I will be giving you unique knowledge that no one else possesses, and it may be related to energy bending."
There's no bargaining here and Madara knew it, if Wan Shi Tong willed… this whole place would disappear and they would never be able to learn anything, it's better to just make a simple deal with the spirit instead of angering it.
The owl now was curious, very curious, they were tilting their head from one side to the other trying to decide what to do in this situation. "A unique… knowledge… you say?"
"A very unique knowledge," Said Madara while grinning with conviction.
"If you… manage to surprise me…. I will… accept."
"My only request is to never, NEVER, let this book exit your library, do we have a deal?"
"A….. very simple ….. deal… yes…"
Madara tossed the book to the Owl, who instantly scanned through it, its eyes could only widen when he finished reading about it "I… never heard …. Of anything like… this…. Is it true…?"
"Yes, I am the living proof that it is true."
The owl flapped its wings excitedly.
"Show…. Me… this so… called…. Sharingan…"
Madara willed and his eyes turned blood red, displaying their three tomoe slowly spinning while staring at the Owl's eyes.
".....Magnificent.…."
Hello there, i hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.
i came here to drop another chapter since tomorrow will be sunday and yall know (Or at least a portion of you know) that it's my day off, so i'm here compensating for it
There's not much to talk, like seriously >_> although, i do love reading about all the theories that you guys come up with, is very entertaining and some of them are quite inspiring!
I hope you can keep supporting me and my work, it's been a wonderful journey and i'm enjoying every second of it! :D
Have a great weekend you beautiful sausages, see you on monday!
Underground, inside a huge dark space, rows, and rows of bookshelves could be seen. There was seemingly endless knowledge inside this place; the library was so deep underground that even the ceiling wasn't really visible. Looking up, one could only see pure darkness.
Following the green lanterns that illuminated each bookshelf, Madara and Wan Shi Tong walked shoulder to shoulder towards specific locations of the library.
"So….. tell me…. Young human…. What other… Knowledge... might you…Seek…. Inside this place?"
Thinking for a second, Madara replied, "Many important details about bending techniques were either forgotten or locked away, hidden, and I want to uncover them.. at least the ones related to firebending and energybending."
The Owl chuckled. "So much…. Knowledge in here… and you come for…. Bending techniques.."
Shrugging, Madara replied, "That's what I am, a bender. If I were a scientist or something else, I would've aimed for different things."
"But here …. You… have the … opportunity … to expand your… knowledge to other… areas." Said the Owl while turning a corner while guiding Madara.
Madara followed, "Well, that's true, but I'm a human; we have limits on how much we can actually learn and absorb. I would rather be really good at one thing than mediocre in many things."
"Hmmmm… wise… considering how… pitifully limited… humans are.." Said Wan Shi Tong as they arrived at a specific massive bookshelf. "This is… everything … about firebending…. I hope you… find what you need…"
Staring at the sheer size of the bookshelf, Madara gulped. "Damn, this is a lot… I don't think I can read all of this… I can't even imagine standing here and doing nothing but sleeping, eating, and reading for who the hell knows how long…"
((AN: Damn, even I felt targeted while writing this…))
The Owl chuckled, "That's…not… my… problem…" then, flapping its wings, Wan Shi Tong flew away, leaving Madara alone.
'Even the spirits of this world are pricks!' sigh. "This will take way longer than I thought. I will go crazy before reading 1/5 of these books!" He put down his big backpack and spread a sleeping bag on a clean corner before putting down an oil lamp. He sat on the floor and started eating some snacks.
'This won't do… I can't read all of this. I'm no machine… I will give it a few months and then call Wan Shi Tong to lead me to Kaliya, I can't live here for a long period of time, or I will go crazy.'
After his snack, he created the courage to start his new… adventure… and looked at the many books and scrolls. There were many half-assed firebending techniques in this place, and he learned very few things from these techniques.
'What a waste…'
Spending days reading and making notes in his own empty books that he brought with him; he came in contact with a very old scroll.
"Xu Ping An's record of Lightning Generation."
The scroll was rather big, much of it was about some events that happened to the man called Xu Ping An, who was nothing more than a criminal in Madara's eyes, but then he came to a specific sentence that made him re-read the whole scroll from the beginning.
"… And using his unique lightning generation technique, Xu Ping An nearly killed Avatar Kyoshi. He would've won if it wasn't for the Avatar State…"
The value of this scroll suddenly became unique for Madara. He even activated his Sharingan to memorize every detail of it, he could take it with him, yes, but he wanted to imprint everything related to this bending technique deep inside his brain.
"Generating lightning instantly without the need of the circular movements to separate Yin and Yang… if I learn how he did it and somehow master it… I may be able to recreate some lightning-based jutsus from the Naruto world… " Madara grinned, and his eyes glowed ".. Generating lightning just by inhaling deeply before striking… I want this technique!"
Madara went full tunnel vision after this; for over a month, he went through 1/3 of the books searching for something related to Xu Ping An's lightning. He found a couple of combustion bending scrolls, but he didn't read them yet; he simply separated them from the rest and kept searching.
After exactly 35 days of searching, Madara finally found something useful; it seems that what helped Xu Ping An wasn't exactly just lightning generation, but a breathing technique similar to his chi breathing technique. 'This is starting to sound more and more like Demon Slayer…'
Madara kept reading the book he found, with his sharingan always on, "this breathing technique replaces the need of the finger movements for lightning, it was inspired by waterbending techniques that follow the pull and push, but using yin and yang, splitting your chi as you breathe… sounds… absurdly complicated! Who the fuck came up with this?! How many sad bastards died because they tried to create this?!" he couldn't help but chuckle 'what a noble sacrifice… I shall put it to good use.' He grinned and started copying the whole book.
After completing the task he called for Wan Shi Tong.
"Could you please lead me to Kaliya? and then I will have to go to the combat techniques unrelated to element bending."
The Owl wasn't amused "I'm… not your servant… human… follow the green lanterns and find her… yourself…. As for the fighting techniques…. That's your problem.. I won't be… helping.." the Owl disappeared after saying that.
'Tsk… what an awful host….' Following the bright green lanterns, he went through many shelves, turning left, right, right, left, right, right, left and he finally reached Kaliya, and when he saw her… Saitama's poker face had to make another comeback.
She was sprawled on the ground, snoring while surrounded by quite a few soju bottles… sleeping without a care in the world over a pile of books.
"You gotta be kidding me…" he said, massaging his forehead. He walked close to her, grabbed one of the half-empty bottles, and poured it over her sleepy face without thinking twice.
"WAGAAAAAAAAAAAA" She shouted and started looking around her. "W-who?!....B-boss?!
W-what are ye doing here… I thought ye would be busy reading about firebending, lightning and stuff…" She spoke softly, behaving like a young girl that was caught doing something that she shouldn't.
Madara's eyebrows twitched. "You spent a whole month… drinking… didn't you?"
Kaliya shook her head repeatedly, "No No, No No No! I did read a lot!"
"How many books?"
"Err… a couple?"
BANG
Madara grabbed a book and hit her head with full strength.
"ARGHHHHHH that fucking hurts!" said the pirate girl with a tearful expression.
"Did you at least find the right books and scrolls?"
Rubbing the back of her head she nodded softly "Y-yes, I found all three styles of waterbending like ye asked, I also found a book about bloodbending, it was actually the first book that I found, to think that they have such good stuff so easy to find…"
The corners of Madara's mouth twitched along with his eyebrow now 'EASY?! I spent over a month to find my lightning bending and this fucking bitch got bloodbending on the first try?! IS THIS WORLD SIDING WITH IDIOTS WHILE PUNISHING THE SMART?!'
Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Kaliya could only stare at him nervously.
"Grab the books you found and let's head out." Said Madara with the best neutral voice he could muster right now.
"R-right away Boss!" she grabbed the books and scrolls, stood up, and followed him without saying a word, she noticed how short his fuse was right now…
They first searched for the combat technique's scrolls, it didn't take them long just.. half a day… then they spent over two weeks trying to find good combat scrolls for Lei. Kaliya managed to find a primitive form of Chi Blocking easily… of course she did…
After collecting the books Madara and Kaliya walked back to the entrance tunnel.
When they walked towards the exit the Owl appeared again "Leaving… so… early?"
Sigh "It's not like I have a choice, we are not alone and I need to tell our driver…. I want to stay longer but my companion here started to become annoying as soon as her alcohol was gone."
Kaliya crossed her arms and pouted "Ye don't have to complain Boss, it's not fair! I already got everything I needed… what else was I supposed to do here? It would be better if ye stood behind to read ye things while Jackie and I went ahead with ye plans."
Madara raised his eyebrows, the first part of what she said annoyed the shit out of him 'this fucking brat!' but the second part of what she said made him consider things…
"You know what Kaliya, you are right… it's actually a very smart idea, I can't even believe I didn't think of it."
She placed her hands on her hips and puffed her chest, raising her chin with a victorious expression. "Of course it's a smart idea, I'm intelligence incarnate, it's just that people don't believe me!"
'I really want to beat the crap out of this woman… '
Even the Owl was staring at Kaliya with the biggest poker face ever. 'Humans….are…. really…. Weird…'
Regaining his bearings Madara turned to Kaliya "we will go outside, I will light a fire and ask Jackie to pick you up and leave this place, go back to Gao Ling and practice the scrolls you got, also give these to Jackie." He said as he gave her the scrolls of the combat techniques.
"Aye boss, how long should we stay there?" Asked Kaliya.
Madara started to consider for a bit "Hmmm… come back once a month to see if I'm out if I'm not then go back and wait for the next month… that will give us plenty of time to get our things done, also... keep bringing me food and water."
Then he turned to Wan Shi Tong "I can count on our friendly Library Spirit to remind me once every month, right?"
The Owl stared at the depths of Madara's eyes "… No…"
An awkward silence remained.
"I will figure something out."
I hope yall enjoyed the chapter, it's really... tedious... to write 'studying and learning' encounters, especially when it's the MC alone with no external interaction, but i felt wrong to just skip it and say 'well now he knows it', i will do that in the future but i need to at least set up a foundation before doing it, otherwise it feels.. wrong..
I know a lot of people will be ".. He had the sharingan and could imprint EVERYTHING IN HIS BRAIN! WHY DIDN'T HE DO IT?!.." well, he is a human and his brains have the limitations of a human as well, he doesn't have mind powers to allocate knowledge inside a magical version of a Memory Palace like many MCs out there, he has a regular guy's mental capabilities, he will use his Sharingan only for needed things, not for everything. He won't know everything, he won't be the best in everything, i'm not writing a Gary Stu.
And no this is not me "forcing a nerf" on him, he is behaving like a human would behave, if i toss you in a room with 50 thousand Math, Physics and other boring subject Books and told you to read everything, you would also not be able to do it, even if you could earn something by doing it.
On a side note, there's a time skip coming next chapter :D i'm sorry about the fake chapter i posted before but i do hope yall liked my artworks :D have a good day you handsome sausages and let's keep reading!
