ADRIANO
Nyx escorted me to the basement to find the doctor who cared for us every time we were injured. Sometimes, we could deal with our wounds, and times when we couldn’t. This was one of those situations where I couldn’t do it.
Raven’s eyes were closed, and her brows were furrowed in pain. She needed to make it through this. I didn’t want to lose her. How much longer until we reached Doc? How fast could I move on aching legs?
That wasn’t even a question. I’d move the Earth for her.
Hell, I’d fight an army of men for her. She was worth everything to me.
Which was saying a lot, because had you asked me if I’d have felt this way a few weeks back, I would have laughed at you. Back then, there was no way I’d let a woman cloud my mind, but now… everything was different.
Doc was in the sterile medical bay of our headquarters. Still in my arms, I carefully placed Raven on the medical table.
We had made it.
“What is it?” Doc wiped his hands on a paper towel.
