Cas knew how much Harkin Rhoswen loved Shani by his body language alone. He drifted toward Shani like she was his center of gravity. And Cas picked that up from them just walking from the tunnel to the table. He’d been around long enough to know what love looked like. And what it made them too. Harkin being cold to Arian was, unfortunately, rather wrongly, a display of love.

But they were troubled minds, and Cas figured Mingan had interrupted some important conversation. He would regale them on his conversation with Arian when they got the h*ll out of this stifling cave.

But they couldn’t leave without him seeing his family’s legacy.

While most of the tunnel entrances were in plain sight, there was one that was more hidden around a short corner of a dead end, a surreptitious little doorway that led to the heart of the underground tunnel system.
