Chapter 212: She doesn't know

The group of scientists gathered at the mouth of the forbidding cave, their breaths mingling with the cold mist that emanated from the depths below. Driven by curiosity and the desire to uncover the mysteries concealed within, they embarked on their perilous journey, unaware of the terrors that awaited them.

Vanessa, as the young and passionate scientist that she was, felt a shiver race down her spine as she cast a wary glance into the inky darkness. She was the only one here on an order. The others still thought the world wasn't that bad. 

The memory of the two unfortunate souls who had ventured here before, never to return, gnawed at her thoughts like a relentless nightmare. Determined to keep her companions safe, she mustered the courage to speak up.

"Everyone, stay quiet," Vanessa whispered, her voice trembling with unease. "We have no idea what lurks in these depths. We need to be cautious."
