The awkward silence in the car was unbearable, for me at least. I kept my eyes glued to the

warlock as he drove. Although he was busy driving, I knew he could feel my eyes on him. How could he not with the bad vibes I kept sending his way?

As soon as I heard his voice, I realized who he was. The deep tones of his voice contrasted with his somewhat soft features.

His hair appeared to be almost the same shade as mine, just slightly paler. Now that the darkness in his eyes had receded, his irises were chocolate brown. Though he must have been in his late forties, I saw no evidence of wrinkles, no doubt a result of using black magic to retain his youthful appearance. He might be handsome for an old guy, but I still didn't trust his ass.

"I'm not a threat, Ruby," he suddenly declared.
