A hint of amusement flickered in Easton River's eyes. After all her evasive talk, she still wanted to avoid getting involved.

With his hands casually in his pockets, he looked at Scarlett and asked, "Why do you dislike me so much? What did I do to offend you?"

"Mr. River, let's cut to the chase," Scarlett replied. "I'm a tutor for the Zhou family. It's not possible for me to work for you. It's not about the compensation; it's about commitments. Besides, I think you're more approachable, so I'm sincerely asking you for a favor. I'm just an ordinary tutor. Maybe my clients are special to others, but to me, this is just a job. I worked hard to be recognized, and I want to continue in this profession and stay in Deep City."

She stood in front of Easton, her head slightly raised. The light illuminated her face, and her gaze was firm yet gentle. Easton thought he saw a sparkle in her eyes, as if she was on the verge of tears, but upon closer inspection, there was not a single tear.
