Chapter 23: With Him
Mabel Cee had always been a good kid. Never played around, was always on her book 24/7. There was no good thing that you wouldn't find Mabel doing without a reason but all of a sudden, all thought to reason before doing anything, flew out the window when Holden mentioned kissing her.
She could still remember the first time she stumbled upon a kissing video clip on youtube.
She had missed her motivational show that day so she went on to find it by name as she hadn't subscribed at that time.
On finding it, she saw a video of a cute girl and boy lip to lip, she was just fifteen, cute age for a teenager.
Her curiosity got the best of her causing her to click play. She started watching it and half way through it, her cheeks were already as red as a tomato.
The kiss was so intense, she remembered playing it over and over again as it stirred something deep within her.
She had always wanted to kiss someone but being an introvert didn't give her the chances to. Who would want to kiss a nerd?
She ended up leaving the clip by advising herself tons of times that it wasn't good for her but she couldn't stay away from it. She just wanted that feeling that always stirred within her back again.
So she made a deal, thrice in a month, she would watch the clip and then once it's at least three times, she wouldn't head back to that clip till the next month.
She got a bit tired and of watching the same clip so she quit it.
But Holden mentioning kissing her made her suddenly want to re-enact everything that happened on that clip and what was strange the most was that she wanted to do it with him.
Staring at Megan's face she couldn't help but bow her head and apologize. Megan was romantically attracted to Holden first and Megan was her friend, she couldn't say she was romantically attracted to him, she didn't even know that she had feelings for him until he mentioned kissing her.
" Why are you apologizing? You look pale... Let me guess, you spoke to Holden and he told you about Luke's crazy idea for a fake wedding am I right?", she said smugly to have Mabel stare at her shocked.
" You know about it?", she asked and Megan nodded softly to have Mabel gulp.
" Relax Mabel, I know how much you don't like trying out new things and you prefare your little bubble but if you think about it..... you need to step out of the shadows sometimes
" No one in this school knows Mabel Cee, no one knows if she's pretty, nerdy, goofy or like able, no one knows you and I know you are comfortable with that.... You're even okay with graduating from high school as a total stranger and I know it's possible when its you, Mabel
" But I also know one thing. I remember what you told me.... You said sometimes being okay is not enough and you could do better than okay", Megan said and stared at Mabel who happened to be in deep thoughts.
Now she felt guilty after saying that last part. She was so okay with not telling Mabel about her mom that she had forgotten they were friends and friends shared everything.
She didn't mind how Mabel treated her in the lunch room, somehow she deserved to be splashed water on, because now it woke her up.
