Chapter 3: Chapter 3: ..... I Agree
Lucius entered his room and banged the door after him as he was furious.
Not long after entering his room he heard knock on his door right before his mother entered.
"I didn't ask you to come in." Said Lucius coldly after calming himself down.
"Son, please don't be angry. We are doing this for your own good. You you turn 30 soon and you don't have a wife and children. Your grandparents are complaining because you are their first grandchild yet you are single while you younger cousin is married."said his mother.
"If you don't find a spouse, they will give your inheritance to your younger cousin and that won't be good as you are the only one fit for this position. You do know that all your hard work, sweat, blood and everything you lost building the company including your youthful years you devoted to the company will be in vein because if the company is given to you cousin it will collapse and go bankrupt because he won't be able to handle the responsibility as well as you do. Hence, it is for your own good." Mrs. Nicole continued hearing no response from her son in an attemp to persuade him.
Still hearing no response from her son, he tried to beckon him by saying,
"Come on son, talk to me."
"What do you want me to say when I'm being made to do what I don't want to do? I came home and was suddenly told by my parents that they found me a bride and I'm expected to just concur with it brainlessly. I'm being made to marry a woman whom I know nothing about. Not even her name, age, how she is and all that. I don't even know the family she comes from, how attracted she is. Yet you want me to immediately consent to it." added Lucius coldly and as calm as ever.
"Son, I know it's difficult for you to agree but please consider we're running out of time. I already explained to you why we're doing all this. Just agree to it. You can find out about her tomorrow. I promise she's a good girl. She's hard working and intelligent. She has the most enviable results and on top of that she's very attractive. Trust me because I've seen her and she made me question God on how he made some people because she is drop dead gorgeous. What's more she is an excellent cook. Her dishes are just mouth watering. Now tell me how many girls you've met who are great cooks and can compete with just this description of her and not even herself?" Said Mrs. Nicole pushing him to the wall so he would have no choice but to agree.
Lucius; "..."
"None I assume. This is why we chose her for you. Because she a full package altogether. She's perfect. Remember, we are your parents and we know what's best for you so we choose her for you. We would never marry you to those useless girls you're always exposed to because we love you." added Mrs. Nicole before quietly waiting for his reply.
Lucius, who stood there quietly looking at his mom and also considering everything she said and then asked,
"What's her name?"
"Zelma Montgomery. What's your reply? Do you agree?" Replied Mrs. Nicole with some other questions.
"Yes.... I agree to it." Lucius said hesitantly.
"Thank you son. I promise you that you won't be disappointed. Now I want you to promise me something too."Said Mrs. Nicole in an excited tone.
"What else do you want from me!" Said Lucius as his temper began to rise at his mother's request.
"Relax, there's no need to get angry. I just wanted to make you promise me to always treat her well no matter the way you two got to know each other and see to all her needs. She's a shy girl so she won't tell you directly. Please, please and please, treat her as a husband treats a wife, not a stanger." Said Mrs. Nicole predicting that he well treat her as a stranger because of how they got married.
Lucius, who was putting on his jacket as he was going out paused midway before giving her a simple,
"Okay" and continued.
"Okay. Where are you heading to?" Asked Mrs. Nicole.
"To a friend's place. Won't be back until Monday." He replied
With that he left not even giving her the opportunity to reply and called his secretary,
"Get me information on Zelma Montgomery." He said before speeding of in his car.
