Carmen's POV :)
The night before the wedding as I curled on the foot of the bed I got a call from Tiffany. I felt like crying seeing her name flash on my phone screen. She was my best friend after all, sensing my plight although we were far away from each other. My emotions were piling up and she just made tears spill.
"Hello Bae...I just got a role that's perfect for you...It's a little cameo appearance but due to the high ratings on our show your talent could be discovered " Tiffany delightfully shared.
"Oh...is that so" I answered as calmly as I could, hiding the tiny croaks in my voice.
"Why aren't you sounding excited... are you okay" she worriedly asked.
"Yeah...I'm fine there's something I've got to tell you"
"What is it ?"
"Wish I could tell you in person but this way will have to suffice " I wish I could look her in the eye and spill everything and then she'd hug me and tell me everything would be alright.
"I'm listening Carm...you're worrying me " she asked worriedly impatient now.
"I'm getting married !" I reveal.
"You're joking right? " she laughed "your acting skills are improving "
"I'm serious ...it just happened before I could catch reigns of it"
"Are you perhaps pregnant for an acclaimed impotent conglomerate " she joked.
"No...how can you think that"
"I'm a writer so I'm fishing up the possible reasons for why you're getting married...did you mistakenly get inseminated with the last egg of a billionaire "
"Take it how you want it Tiff...I'm getting married" I declare.
"So you won't tell me why ?" She questioned sounding serious now.
"It's a contract marriage !" I reveal.
"Contract ?"
"Yeah...I just have to make a baby then I'm off with some cash"
"Wait what...so you'll make a baby and walk off...if that's your mentality how are we still friends. You're messing with my head right ?"
"Come on I'll walk off with some dollars for this...isn't it a good deal" I tell her and try to assure myself as well.
"You'd have to abandon an helpless baby Carmen" she replied realizing how serious I was now.
"I'm Camila now" I weakly said.
"Jeez Carmen did an apocalypse happen while I was away...how could you change so much "
"Change is constant Tiffany " I remind her.
"Tell me what mess you got yourself into right now. This doesn't sound like you"
"Shit happened while you were away Tiff. I miss you so much wish you had been here to stop me from making this stupid mistake "
"I'm taking the next flight home cam"
"What about your job ?"
"I'll take a break "
"It's too late Tiff. I'm in a deep pit I can't get out off even if you..." She cut the line.
I stayed awake thinking about what was about to be my reality. I told myself I shouldn't cry I can get through this, I'll sneak in get the job done and be on my way. I'll disappear from all their lives forever.
I stare at the plain walls of the guest room I was. After Michael got their house released, I had to move in with them on the insistence of Charles. They had me stay at a guest room which was reasonable cause what parent would want a stranger impersonating their daughter have her room too. It was uncomfortable staying here with them but they were mostly out seeing their daughter in the daytime and came home to rest.
I can't still sleep so I decide to take a walk. I get out of the empty house and as I do the car parked across the house blinked it's lights and horned.
Charles ! What the fuck was he doing here ? Does he think I'll be stupid enough to want to run away ?
I cross over to the car and the window wind and I saw Mark. I scanned the whole car but there was no Charles.
"Mark what are you doing here ?" I questioned staring at him straight in the eye.
"I'm watching you tonight " he said.
"I'm craving some chicken " I whine.
"Aren't you on a diet for your wedding dress ?" Mark asked.
"No I'm not" I tell him. " can I join you for a ride ?" I'd really love the fresh air this night.
"Charles won't be cool with that. Get back inside and Goodluck " Mark said and wind the glasses up. The cold guy was warming up to me at least. I journey back into the house and actually slept off.
