Chapter 3: It's a tie
The bell rang, class for the day has ended, Ha Rin walked home thinking about the incident that happened in class. She couldn't understand how some people could be so heartless, she felt pity for Mr Song. She got to her house and saw her father lying on the floor, he was completely drunk, he opened his eyes staring at the ceiling talking to himself, his head moved towards where Ha Rin was standing and got up, he staggered as he walked towards her, Ha Rin tried to help him but he pushed her hand away and headed towards the door.
"father please don't go out, you're drunk" Ha Rin begged holding her father.
"Don't tell me what to do" he said angrily and pushed her, she hit her head on the table beside the door, luckily it was just a bruise. He opened the door and left.
Later, Ha Rin's mother came home and saw the bruise on her head, Ha Rin explained what happened. Her mother started crying, it wasn't a big deal but it was to Ha Rin's mother, she cried because she couldn't give Ha Rin a good family after she lost her real one, she wondered of things would have been different if Ha Rin was her real daughter. Ha Rin comforted her mother. A while later, she went into her room to read.
The next morning, Ha Rin woke up and went to school, she sat beside Ha Eun as usual, the class was a bit noisy but soon became quiet when Mrs Choi walked in announced that there was going to be a test. The class began complaining.
"but nobody told us there was going to be a test" Hei Ryung said as the whole class agreed with her.
"don't tell me you're scared of a little test?" Ha Joon asked Hei Ryung coldly.
"No- No, I'm just saying that they should have informed us before" Hei Ryung said nervously. Ha Joon turned his head away from her. Mrs Choi shared the scripts and the test began. Mrs Choi walked round the class to ensure no one was cheating, some students started looking at the ceiling as if the answers were written there, some scratched their heads as if they will remember it instantly. The test lasted for one hour, thirty minutes. Mrs Choi collected the scriptures and told them they will get their results at the end of the day. The students were impatient, they wanted to see if they did well or not, finally Mrs Choi came into the class and announced that their results had been out. They all rushed to the notice board. Hwa Young and Hyun-Ok had a total of 17% and some other students, Hei Ryung and some others had 12%, Ha Eun along with Jung- Hwa and Ha Joon had 7%.
" it's a tie" a boy shouted when he saw Ha Rin and Min Joon's score, 4%. This came as a surprise to everyone, it has never happened. Some praised her for her intelligence while some were convinced she cheated because no one could beat Min Joon. Ha Rin didn't care if she was praised or criticized, as far as she was concerned she passed the test, as for Min Joon, his record has been broken by this tie, he had never had an opponent in his school before, this was the first time and this time, Ha Rin was at the top of his list.
