Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Love, Blood, and Fangs

Julia Locke POV:

I lay on my sofa with my eyes closed, watching the lights of my people. Of course, there was one light that was absent.

Today had not been a good day.

Rob and I had gone to Marcus’s motel to check on him, but he wasn’t there. We checked the other few places he might have gone; the Hunting Ground, we even went out to check the area around my house to make sure he wasn’t there.

The only thing I could think of was that the Red Chapter kill team had arrived and Marcus was with them now. Unfortunately, Rob couldn’t think of an alternative explanation.

Now that we had lost track of Marcus, we didn’t know where the Red Chapter was, or what their plans were.

“Comfortable?” Rob asked me.

I opened my eyes to see Rob looking down at me. I took a deep breath. “Physically I’m comfortable,” I replied. “The situation isn’t very good though.”

“No, it’s not,” Rob agreed. “If you would prefer, Julia, I can stay here with you.”
