Chapter 59: A Master Manipulator

Luka watched in confusion as all the stage crew froze in place, their eyes glued to one of the display monitors backstage. It was flashing green and black swirls repetitively, and though his ears had adjusted to it, that awful noise was still playing.

What the hell?

Tentatively approaching a stagehand close to him, he snapped his finger in front of her face, moving it back and forth to gain her attention. The woman did nothing to acknowledge his actions, not even flinching when he brought his fingers close to her eyes.

Trying again on a couple of others, Luka could feel his anxiety rising as the outcome stayed the same. His mind quickly went to his human who had been escorted out of the backstage area, and fear gripped him.
