Alex widened his eyes. Hearing Nada's scream, suddenly he, who had not yet had time to enter the dream world, straightened himself again in surprise.
The scream sounded so heart-wrenching like it was looking for someone's whereabouts.
"Nada? What's with her?"
Turning his head to the clock on the wall, Alex saw that it was almost midnight. And on a night like this, why doesn't Nada fall asleep? the girl screamed.
Alright, Alex, this isn't the time to think. He immediately got out of bed. Previously, he first drank mineral water so that his throat was not too dry and made him choke. After that, he took an iron baseball bat that could protect him from what happened at Nada's house. Of course, he also brought his cell phone, then walked out of his room.
Going down the stairs one by one, he stopped at one of the drawers in the living room, then grabbed a flashlight just in case. Arriving at the terrace of the house, he took his sandals and put them on.
"It's the middle of the night, but why doesn't anyone seem to hear Nada's screams? Why is it only me who hears it?"
Even though Nada's screams were quite loud, let alone sounded frightened. There was no way the woman's closest neighbors had not heard her. Even if you hear it, Nada's house will be filled with curious people.
But this time… it turned out that no one was paying attention to Nada's screams other than Alex.
Alex walked through his yard which was surrounded by garden lights, there was no need to be afraid of the dark because at Alex's house the lighting was very adequate.
Frown his brows. Alex looked at Nada's house which was very dark. "Should I carry a torch? Oh no, that's an exaggeration, Alex, don't think so stupid," he said with a chuckle.
Alex came out of the gate of his house, after that he locked it again from the outside and stepped into Nada's house, of course, he moved towards the main gate.
"What happened to Nada?"
Alex stood right in front of the gate, staring at the towering gate until he lifted his head.
Before opening the gate, Alex immediately reached for his cell phone from his trouser pocket. He first contacted Nada before entering the courtyard of the girl's house which looked dimly lit.
It wasn't that Alex was afraid of the dark, of course, he wasn't. However, the darkness this time brought a different atmosphere. The hair on his neck felt like everything was standing up.
He decided to call Nada, pressing 'call' on the number. He put the phone to his ear, then the phone rang which made him even more anxious.
"Come on Nada... pick up my phone."
Until the last ring, and luckily Alex's phone call was answered.
"Hello, Nada? What happened to you? Was there a burglar in your house or something? I heard you screaming." Because he was too panicked, Alex immediately rushed to Nada with questions in droves.
Alex looked at Nada's house, and yes, there were only a few lights still on.
Hearing Nada's sobs from the other side, Alex was worried, he panicked. "Huh, why? What happened?"
Again there was a soft sigh.
"H-help me find my dad, Alex. P-please..."
"Wait for me there, Nada."
pip
Without further ado, now Alex has turned off the phone unilaterally.
Don't care, Alex goes straight to Nada's yard because it turns out that the gate to her house is not locked? Seriously, what if a bad guy walks in?!
Alex tried to think positively, he ran through the yard of Nada's house which looked much scarier than before. Since his mind was now only focused on Nada and what might happen to the girl, he no longer had negative thoughts about things.
Alex's feet had stepped on the terrace of Nada's house, after which he took off his sandals and placed them right on the shoe rack so as not to leave dirty stains on the floor.
knock
knock
knock
He knocked on the main door, he kept his manners as it was impossible to enter someone else's house without the owner's consent.
One minute, no one opened the door for him. "Come on Nada, open the door, and don't worry me."
And yes, a few seconds later the door of Nada's house opened. Alex stared at whatever would greet him, and now he was face to face with Nada. The woman's eyes were swollen, even her eyes and nose were red.
Alex didn't ask like he used to but immediately gave a warm hug to the figure in front of him. His hand reached out to caress the top of Nada's head in a slow and gentle motion. "Don't cry anymore, things will get better soon," he said slowly, he slipped a little joke.
Nada just chuckled, after that, she let go of Alex's hug which was a reflex. "Help me, please help find my dad outside the house." She said in a hurried voice.
"Tell me first, what's the crux of the problem you're feeling right now, hm? I don't understand why I have to look for your father outside the house—"
"Looking for dad." Nada immediately cut off Alex's words, she didn't want to say much because now what she needed was action.
Nodding his head, Alex understood. "Before the first turn on the lights in your yard, it looks very dark and scary." He says. "Not like usual." he continued.
Nada nodded her head, her eyes looking tired. Like despair and anxiety at the same time. She walked to the wall near the garage, there was an outlet that connected electricity to the garden lights.
Alex looked at Nada's house, which had brightened up again. "Your backyard, please please turn on the lights too," he said, reminding again.
Actually, from today onwards, he decided not to set foot in Nada's backyard because it looked so horrifying. During the day when the sun is shining, it looks very scary, what if it's late at night?
"Already," Nada replied, she walked back and stopped right beside Alex.
"Your front yard is clean, there are no corners that might hide an adult's body. We'd better go straight to your backyard," suggested Alex.
Nada nodded her head in agreement. "I will follow your decision." She replied.
They walked out of the porch of the house, walking hastily into the backyard.
And it was true that Alex thought that Nada's backyard was scary.
"Have you checked the warehouse?" asked Alex, pointing to a small building that was sure to become a warehouse for storing things that were no longer in use.
Nada shook her head. "Not yet," she answered in a weak voice. Her only hope is Alex, there is no one else she can rely on for this.
After all, Alex was still a boy and he knew that Nada had been counting on him to help keep her from being alone. "Do you want to stay here or come with me?" he asked, worried that the woman beside him was afraid to step into the old barn where there might be some cobwebs, mother, eggs, and even children might already be full of that one little animal.
"I want to come with you."
Alex nodded his head and then told Nada to keep walking behind him because if something bad happened it would be the first and not the innocent girl.
Stop right in front of the barn door, then immediately open the barn door.
And…
Their eyes were completely wide.
