Chapter 18: The Crew

With all the supplies needed for a week, Captain Peak and his crew carried them to his ship docked at the end of the pier.

"What's your name boy?" Peak asked while checking his notes

"Hapvin, but people call me Vin."

"Well boy, Here's where you'll be for a week." Peak said pointing at his ship

The ship he was pointing at was very different for the other ships on the pier, it was smaller than any other navy ship and painted black. I was perfect for making enemies underestimate it but it's small size gave it more speed against larger ships. There were other ships like his a ways from the pier, those were the others in his group and they all could be differentiated by the insignia on their flag. Each one of them had a hollow circle painted on the flag and each was a different color except for Peak's ship which had a red circle that was full. The supplies were finally loaded on the ship at it was ready to set sail, the only thing missing was the captain's order.

"Are you lads ready?" He shouted while boarding

"Aye, Captain." they all responded

With the loud exclamation from his crew, Peak walked to the helm and ordered to launch. Each man had started running to his positions to make the launch as smooth as possible, all Hapvin could do was wait behind Peak and watch in awe. At first glance, the men moving from one place to another looked like pure chaos but by watching one man then another then another, you could see that each man at no point got in another's way, showing the level of unity between them and the captain. After an hour, the ship had reached open waters and was at a cruising speed, so them crew had started to relax.

"Coax, Take the boy and introduce the crew." Captain Peak said

"Aye, Captain." He said jogging over to the captain

You could see that he was the first mate, due to the red scarf he had rapped around he arm, similar to the captain.

"Follow me, son." He said "As the captain said, my name is Coax and I'm the second in command."

"Yes, sir."

"Even though you'll only be here for a week, getting along with everyone will make your stay better." he said checking his notes "Alright, this man's name is Revin."

The man was short was long red hair reaching to his lower back.

"Good day sonny, great to have you." He said

Another man came up to ask him for a question and introduced himself quickly.

"Hey kid, the name's Yoric and I'll be borrowing him for a second."

They both left, heading down to the lower decks to handle some problem. The introductions went on very slowly even though the crew was only that of 15 men. The last man was in the cradle on the mast and didn't come down, just shouting his name.

"Aaron's a bit of a recluse, so he rarely comes down from up there." Coax explained "You should she him around dinner."
