“Feel?” When Maggie nodded, she continued. “I think I can close that chapter, now. It feels done. I’ve grieved, I’ve been angry at her for going with me, and at myself for taking her. I’ve cried, and now I’ve made decisions. She’ll never leave my heart, but it feels like I can go on.”
“That’s amazing, Cam. I’m happy for you.”
“It’s been three years. I grieved some when I was in that solitary cell, and that helped, but going there and seeing everything finalized it for me. It felt like closure.” Cam took a deep breath. “And you, Dr. Thomason? How are you doing? Are you still single?”
Maggie laughed. “Yes, I’m still single. I’ve been cleaning up my practice so I can see what’s been happening in the past few years.”
“I imagine there was a lot you weren’t here for,” Cam commented.
“You wouldn’t believe!” Maggie chuckled. “Dan did a very good job of keeping everything going while I was traveling back and forth, but his record keeping is a little different from mine.”
