Chapter 59: The Apothecary

***JAKE'S POV***

I left Alex at the gate with Alina and went back to the place that the Keeper told me was my home. That had happened the night before. After I left Alex and Alina the first time. I hadn't known where to go and would have ended up sleeping on the street if it wasn't for the Keeper coming forward and telling me where I lived in this world.

The house wasn't the greatest. It was an apartment that was in a multifamily dwelling. I lived on the fifth floor, and the home was a one bedroom home with a small living space that doubled as a kitchen. The only other room was a small storage space that held the food and firewood.

The place was actually sort of depressing. Especially considering that I needed to carry the water up the stairs to the apartment if I wanted to bathe or cook. Also, there was no real bathroom. This place was actually a fucking shithole.
