Chapter 4: Chapter Three

"You have to take her with you." Max said. "I'm going trick or treating tonight."

"Take her with you!" Billy exclaimed. "You're the one who brought her home."

"Let's ask her who she wants to go with." Max replied placing her hands on her hips and turning towards Lila.

"Who would you like to go with tonight? Me or Billy?"

Lila hesitated for a second, her eyes darting back and forth between the two of them. She bit her lip before pointing at Billy.

"Ha! Later! You're stuck!" Max shouted before darting out of the door.

Billy glared at Lila before shrugging on his leather jacket. "Why did you pick me?"

"Older." Lila replied. She liked Max but she liked Billy more because they were the same age.

"Come on." He sighed before walking out of his room. Lila followed him outside and climbed into the car.

"Where?" Lila asked as he drove away from the house.

"A party. Lots of people will be there. So just stay close to me." He replied.

They pulled up to the house that was littered with drunk teenagers. People were everywhere. Even on the roof.

"Billy." Lila expressed with a worried look on her face.

"It's fine. I told you. Stay near me." Billy said. "And if anyone asks, you're homeschooled."

"School?" She asked.

"You don't know what school is?" He asked. Lila shook her head no.

"It's a place where you learn." He replied. "Now come on."

Lila followed him towards the house, staying close to him. People stared at her. She didn't like it. She grabbed Billy's hand and looked up at him. He snatched it away before furrowing his eyebrows at her.

"Don't. You'll ruin any chance of me getting laid."

Lila looked up him with scared eyes. He sighed before grabbing her hand again. "Fine."

"Hargrove! You made it." Tommy grinned. "And you brought company. Who's this pretty thing?"

"My neighbor. She's homeschooled. Figured I'd show her how Hawkins High does it." Billy replied. Lila squeezed his hand tight.

"What's your name?" Tommy asked.

"Lila." She replied.

"Pretty name for a pretty girl." Tommy smirked, reaching for her hand. Lila pulled it away before looking at him in horror.

Billy saw and yanked her away before Tommy could say anything else. They made their way into the kitchen where he poured himself some of the spiked punch.

"Want some?" Billy asked.

"No thanks." Lila replied.

Lila stayed under Billy's arm most of the night. It began to get crazier and crazier. Lila felt uneasy.

"Home." She said tugging on Billy's arm.

"Not now." Billy said shrugging her off.

"Home!" Lila hissed, tugging on his arm once more. Billy glared his eyes at the girl.

"Stop it."

Lila stared at before standing up. She walked away from him and towards the door. Billy rolled his eyes at her before continuing with his converstion.

Lila walked through the front yard and onto the road. She would go home herself. She didn't need Billy.

She heard a car approaching behind her as she walked. The car stopped beside her, causing her to stop in her tracks.

"Come on."

It was Billy. She sighed in relief before getting into the car.

"You're a little brat, you know that?" He asked.

"No." Lila shook her head.

As they pulled up to the house, Billy cursed under his breath. His dad and Susan were home which it'd be nearly impossible to get Lila in.

"Look, I'm going to go inside. Go to the window at the front of house. I'll sneak you in through there."

"Okay." Lila nodded.

She waited by the window, getting more nervous the longer she waited. Finally, Billy opened the window. She grabbed his hands and he pulled her inside.

"You'll have to sleep in here. I'm not risking getting caught." He sighed as he walked over to his door, locking it.

"Okay." Lila said. "I'm tired."

"Well, get some sleep." Billy laughed. "Bed's all yours."

"You? Sleep?" She asked.

"I'll take the floor." He replied as he took his shoes off.

"No." She shook her head. "Bed."

"No." Billy said. "I'll sleep on the floor."

"Bed." Lila demanded, glaring at him. "Nightmares."

"Fine." He rolled his eyes.

Lila climbed into the bed, pulling the covers over her and nuzzling into the pillow. Billy climbed in beside her making sure they were seperated by a pillow.

"Goodnight, Billy." Lila yawned.

"Goodnight, you weirdo."
