Chapter 10: Chapter Nine
Lila rushed out the front door of the Byers' house and towards Billy's Camaro. He shut the car off and stepped out, tossing his jacket in the seat.
"Where have you two been?" He fumed.
"Out." Lila replied. "I'm sorry."
"For what? Sneaking out on my watch?" He yelled throwing his hands up.
Lila reached up, cupping his cheek. "Hurt."
He slapped her hand away. "It's all your fault."
"Me?" Lila frowned.
"Yes!" He shouted. "You freak! Max should've never taken you home!"
Lila stood there, furrowing her eyebrows. "I'm sorry."
"Sorry doesn't mean shit to me." He said pushing past her.
"Billy." She called out. He didn't turn around. He kept walking up the front steps. Lila focused on the door, keeping it locked by using her abilities.
"Lila, let it go." He said turning around.
"No." She stated.
"Let it go!" He yelled.
"No!" She yelled back before slinging her arm, pulling down the stairs and onto the ground.
Lila quickly moved towards him, sitting on his chest, holding his arms down. "I'm sorry, Billy."
"Get off of me!" Billy shouted before shoving her off of him and onto the ground.
Billy stormed into the house, slamming the door behind him. Lila attempted to stand but was too weak. She laid on the ground looking up into the dark sky.
She exahaled slowly trying to regain any kind of strength she could muster up. Nothing.
Hearing the kids yelling inside, Lila tried once more to stand. Finally, her legs carried her into the Byers' home.
Slinging the door open, she gasped at the sight of Billy on top of Steve. Billy's fist was pounding into Steve's face over and over again.
Before she even had a chance to stop him, Max was lunging at Billy with a syringe in her hand. Billy stopped before standing.
"Max, what'd you do?" He mumbled, pulling the syringe from his neck. His vision blurred before he collasped to the floor.
Max picked up Steve's homemade bat, holding it over her head. "From now on you leave me and my friends alone!"
"Screw you." Billy slurred.
Max slung the bat down between Billy's legs, barely missing his crotch. "Do you understand!"
"I understand." He replied before losing consciousness.
"Max!" Lila shouted, kneeling down beside Billy. "He's dead!"
"Relax he's not dead!" Max exclaimed snatching Billy's keys. "Sleeping!"
Lila looked up at her with a worried look.
"Come on guys. We have work to do." Max said grabbing a stack of books.
"I'll carry Steve, you guys grab the materials." Dustin said as he grabbed Steve's ankles.
"Max, bad idea." Lila warned.
"It's fine. I've driven before." Max smiled. "Stay with Billy, make sure he doesn't come after us."
Lila simply nodded before the kids (and steve) disappeared.
She sighed and looked down at Billy. His lips were bleeding as well as his nose. Placing her hand on his lip, she focused hard, clearing up his injury.
She laid Billy's head into her lap before placing her hand over his forehead and closing her eyes
"What the-" She could hear him mumbling.
She opened her eyes to find his staring up at her.
"Max." He groaned attempting to sit up. His vision was still blurring so he settled back down into Lila's lap.
"She's safe." Lila replied brushing his hair from his face.
"Lila." He mumbled. "I'm sorry."
"No." She shook her head. "That was mean, Billy."
"I know, sweetheart, I know." He replied.
"Bad man." She sighed.
"Good man, bad temper." He muttered out.
"Horrible!" Lila exclaimed before Billy sat up. He grabbed her cheeks, pulling her into him. Those same sparks, flew through Lila.
As he pressed his tongue against her lips, a new feeling erupted through her. It felt as if her stomach was on fire. She gasped into the kiss, pushing him away.
"Gross." She shuttered.
"Ouch?" He asked confused.
"My stomach." Lila cringed. "Fire."
"That's just love, darlin'." He smirked.
"I feel it too."
