Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Placid Tranquility, Part 2

A few moments later, after everyone had calmed their nerves, the throne room was silent again. Aside from the giggling. Naisyn couldn't contain herself, laughing hysterically about the fact that Celeste had bitten Storm's hand.

"Ahahahahaha! You-you bit his hand so hard-ahahah-! He yelled so badly-!" She laughed. Nanao clutched her book tightly and threw it in her direction, hitting her square in the face.

Celeste coughed, signaling everyone to stay quiet and to listen. Everyone in the room was now attentive to her.

"Now, everyone seems to be here. Well, except for the other two, but that isn't important. You'll all be joining up soon," she spoke.

"Joining?" Storm asked, suddenly curious.

"Yes. Naeterou and Nixanya both need your support. At least Naeterou does-mostly Naeterou, actually. Nixanya needs discipline, if anything. Something is going amiss and from what they've told me, I'm concerned. I've told them to straighten out some things for an event, but I haven't had any response. I need all of you to go to the island in Nova." Celeste said.

"What about you? You mean to leave the castle unguarded?" Nanao asked.

"You and Nixanya have a link. I understand if you're against seeing her now, but quarrels cannot remain an excuse, Nanao. You've yet to fully maintain control, both of you. You two have awakened the link power, but you cannot leave Nixanya with that much power in a stressed situation. You know how she is," she answered, putting one leg over the other and brushing her hair over her shoulder, she again spoke. "As for the castle, I can maintain my own castle, if anyone dare oppose me," she said firmly to Nanao.

Naisyn climbed down, stretching and walking past Nanao. The book that was thrown at her was in her hands, and she put it to her head and saluted like a soldier.

"We've got it under control, Lest!" she said, her tails softly moving through the air. Celeste couldn't help but smile, seeing her act so childishly. She wanted to just spoil her, but instead walked over and petted the girl.

"I expect nothing less from you all, tomorrow morning," she stated, walking by Storm and stopping next to Nanao to place her hand on her shoulder as she walked by, leaving the three in the throne room.

Naisyn returned the book to Nanao; the black-haired girl clenched it tightly. Naisyn saw this and took a small step back, not sure what to say to her. She always had a way of livening the room up, getting everyone in a relaxed mood, but she didn't have anything up her arsenal. Seeing her in this state got the girl worried about Nanao. Storm saw her doing this, and walked up to her, placing both hands on her shoulders, a smile on his face. Nanao turned to see him behind her.

"Hey, we've got this, alright? Celeste can take care of herself, and we can help. All of us are going, so there's nothing to worry about," he told her. She shook his hands off, looking at him, then sighed afterwards, opening the throne room doors.

"We lose this-this agreement, whatever Celeste is trying to do over there, goes to hell. We lose this, there's a war," she stated, leaving the room.

Storm put his hands in his jacket pockets, walking after her. Naisyn followed closely behind.

Later that same day, Storm laid in bed, his arms behind his head, staring at the ceiling. He heaved a sigh and stood up barefoot, wearing sweatpants and a white shirt. He left his room to go get something to eat. As he walked silently, the hallway echoed the sounds of his feet stepping on the checkered marble floor.

He walked to the kitchen located in the west hall, opposite from where he was staying. He passed the stairs quickly, reaching the kitchen door. He wouldn't use his lightning, as doing so would make light or sound, which would be noticeable. Or even yet, Celeste would have picked up on the energy and question and possibly scold him, which he didn't want.

Opening one of the fridges, he found a huge cheesecake that had slices removed. Snickering silently, the boy took the cheesecake and placed it on the counter, closing the fridge. He grabbed a paper plate and knife, taking a large slice from the cheesecake, putting it back in the fridge, and saw bottles of cold milk. Taking one to drink with the cake, he passed on by the large stairway, silently returning to his room.

Closing and locking his door, he sat in bed, pulled his phone out, and attempted to plug in headphones. He took a sip of the bottled milk, ready to eat the cake until he heard knocking on his door. Fear. This was the first reaction in his mind. Had Celeste found him out? Was she going to attack him while he stood powerless against her?

He breathed in and out, opening his drawer and putting the milk and cheesecake in it. His hand shook a bit as he opened the door, only to see that it was Nanao.

"Oh-hey, what's up?" he said, with relief.

"You've got milk above your lip." She informed him, which got him to blink twice, before realizing that he did take a sip of the milk.

He quickly wiped his lips. "Don't tell Celeste." He pleaded to Nanao, hoping she would agree to let it pass. She sighed.

"What's wrong?" he asked, confused as she had been acting differently since that afternoon when they all spoke.

"I'm-I'm worried-" she spoke to him, softly.

He felt sorry for Nanao and stood by the doorway, putting a hand in front of her, gesturing for her to come into his room. Sitting on the bed, Nanao sat with her legs crossed, her hands folded together on her feet, looking away from Storm. Sitting in a wooden chair across from her, he itched his cheek, and then gave a small sigh and looked in her direction.

"Look-if you aren't going to say anything, how am I supposed to help you out?" he questioned her, and she looked towards him after his question.

"-I'm worried," she muttered it again. It was almost inaudible.

"About Celeste?" he asked, the girl shaking her head.

"About tomorrow. You know how Nixanya is-always putting up some fight-" she said, seemingly flustered.

"I can't comprehend why Celeste would link us together. US. She's always starting a fight-I'm always the one who sets her straight-it always ends with me getting assaulted-" she said to him, Storm sitting up straight, putting his foot down.

"Hey. You guys are linked, and if she's linked you two, there's definitely some sort of bond. You guys have your-moments, so it's fine. She's war and you're-peace? Look, just punch her in the face for once," he said, to her, taking in a breath before staying quiet again.

"-That's terrible advice-" she muttered, and Storm shrugged.

After a few moments of silence, she smiled at the thought of punching Nixanya, but the smile faded quickly.

"You know I don't like keeping things from you. Tomorrow, there's some sort of dispute with the other country, Nova. If we could keep Nixanya tamed, we can avoid all those potential fights. This is the plan," she said, looking straight into him for an agreement.

"I'll help too. I want to help Angel out over there. We're partners, after all," he said to her, nodding in confirmation to her plan.
