As the army of crows swooped in on Humil's tree form, a loud boom of thunder shook the sky. Instantly the vast blue sky disappeared from view, replaced by a sea of rumbling black storm clouds. Within the clouds flashes of lightning began to appear, lighting up the land in a strobe-like burst.
A nearly maniacal laugh shook the land as from the center of Humil's canopy, a single vibrant green sprout arouses. Two tender green leaves danced under the impending storm as if beckoning its arrival. From where he was being delayed, King Luka could just barely make out the new arrival.
"IMPOSSIBLE! IMPOSSIBLE!!!" He shrieked, "You just had a tribulation! Having another so soon is impossible!" King Luka's eyes nearly popped out of his skull as he screamed angrily towards the tree.
The many soldier crows looked to the sky in terror. Complete despair filled their gazes as to their and King Luka's horror, lightning began rained down like the wrath of god. With every merciless strike, hundreds of crows were vaporized. Agonized screams filled the air as ash drifted slowly to the ground.
While the onslaught steadily erased the army of crows, eight deep crimson bolts started to form above Humil's crown. Ominous crackling rocked the horizon as an otherworldly pressure descended.
"You fool!" King Luka screech, as tens of lightning bolts pelted his body. Smoke rose from his feathers as he cursed under his breath. He thought the old tree might do something crazy, but trigging a tribulation was utterly beyond his expectations.
While he was still trying to wrap his head around everything that was happening, from beside him, a piercing wail shocked him from his stupor. Jerking his head to the side, the scene of his son Alba being reduced to ash by a barrage of lighting bolts entered his vision.
"Alba!" The king's voice cracked as he tried in vain to save his child. "Humil, I swear to the heaven's that I will have my revenge! I will kill you!" He bellowed as an insane craze flickered in his bloodshot eyes. Casting one final glare towards the giant tree, he spread his wings and fled from the unrelenting lightning storm.
Unbeknownst to King Luka though, Humil hadn't even heard his resent filled declaration. The old tree was currently giving his undivided attention to the ever growing threat above his head. Even though he just went through a tribulation a few days ago, thanks to Jasper's existence he had managed to siphon off enough energy to go ahead and began his next one. Subconsciously, he tightened the roots covering where Jasper was sleeping blissfully unaware.
----------
A streak of sunlight fell across Jasper's face, casting a warm glow over his scales. With a small yawn, he lifted his head as his vision slowly cleared. Looking at his surroundings he blanked.
'Am I back in the pit?' He thought to himself. Furrowing his brows he frowned. He vaguely remembered eating the second fruit and going for the third, but then everything went dark.
'How in the world did I manage to make it back?' The more he thought about it the more confused he became. He couldn't have slithered back, right? After all the put was a good three to five feet deep, there was no way he was making it down that fruit drunk. At least not without getting injured in some way.
Shaking his head he decided not to think about it any further. He was fine, and that was all that really mattered after all.
Sorry that it's so short (and for the long wait, flood's are horrible) but I wanted to get at least something out there. But as always, hope to see you again for part two!
